Steelace and I both use this fan. It is fantastic, he is running his e6600 core 2 duo at 3.38ghz stable with this fan. I on the other hand need a new mobo to clock over 2.4 with mine, stay away from Gigabyte 965 mobo's.

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

True, but you cannot beat their DQ6 boards

My livingroom machine is my old business machine and plays UT3 fine.

Pentium-4 2.4Ghz
1 gig value ram
ATI 1650XT
Western Digital Caviar 8mb 80 gig 7200 rpm HDD
Windows XP

Plays fine at 800x600 with average/high settings

I recently had to replace HDD and upgraded to Vista ultimate 32bit, I'll post newer results after I reinstall UT3

Just a note, unless your running a 64bit OS, it will only recognize 3GB of total memory, this includes Cache, and whats on the video card. It's an address limitation of 32bit OSes. There is a 3GB switch within XP (and possibly Vista) to go larger, but I don't think anything over 2 is really any benefit to most people at this point.

Yeah next os will definatly be 64 bit. Right now when I'm doing development work I'm averaging around 1.7 - 2.2 GB being used which probably means its using way to much cache to be efficient. Plus I'm planning on making some stuff for UT3 once I'm done with school and from what I hear it is a memory hog.

The reason I push the 4GB setup is due to Vista's memory hog......Eventually we all will be using some version of Vista.

Well, on the new machine, I was able to push the demo at max settings in 1680x1050, without any overclocking and it ran smooth!

...guess its time to pick up the retail version!

cheers.

I'll try and get Boingo to play on her computer. She got UT3 for Christmas and her computer runs it just fine. Mine won't, though. She hasn't tried it out yet, but she hasn't had much time to.

Nice set-up, love those fans--what are they?

I had to hook most of the stuff up before putting them on, kind of restricts access to umm everthing on the motherboard almost couldn't put a stick in DIMM1 because the pipes on the heatsink give no room to slide it in.

Continuum:

how does the 8800 GT work? I am looking to upgrade my graphics cards from a pair of 6800s and this seems to be the best card for the price, do you recommend it based upon how yours are working?

I have to run UT3 on my computer at 800*600 with the goodies turned off to have a decent chance of seeing what killed me.......I have to admit, my PS3 plays the game at much higher resolution and with a better frame rate than my computer does.

The 8800 GT's are the best deal right now. I had UT3 running with full post processing, decent texture detail and 1900x1200 res (still playing with it though).

The game looks completely different when you have the graphics turned up.
