Computer Freezes When I Start Unreal

I was using my computer at school with iTunes going with my headphones in. I wanted to use UnreadED so I clicked on it. The splashscreen opens up...and then my computer freezes. I can't move the computer at this point unless I hold the power button in. What's up?

So then I tried UT2004...it happens the same and freezes the computer.

I try a sound editor named Audacity...crashed.

I then went to safe mode. I notice my sound devices are disabled in safe mode (I think this is normal). When I clicked on Audacity, it opened fine (though it didn't record sound).

What's happening?!

just a odd conflict of resource's is my guess.

there should be a audio player built into UT if my memory is not faulty, but could very well be the case...(as the wife says anyways)

OK, so I updated every driver and every windows 7 update available. The problem didn't change. I'm at a loss. Should I format my computer?

Aright. So the problem has been fixed now. Apparently my sound driver (realtek audigy) has a bug where if you set an option at the right time while your running something in compatibility mode, everything goes crazy. All I had to do was remove and install the driver. Glad that's over.
