Basically what the title says. There is no User.ini file in my UT2004/System folder, nor is there a UT2004.ini file. The DefUser.ini and Default.ini files are present, though, and I've never really had a problem with the game remembering my settings or key bindings (the files have been gone for several months now.) I did a reinstall today and still don't have those files.
Any ideas on how to remedy this? Should I try copying the DefUser.ini and renaming the copy User.ini, then re-doing my keybinds? And I already checked the DVD - no luck there, either.
Thank you for your time.

Locrian I can post the User.ini file right here if you need one at all, but it obviously won't have the keybinds you need. Try going to your preferences through the UT2004 console.
1. Press "~"
2. Type "preferences"
3. Click the drop-down "Advanced"
4. Click the drop-down "Raw Key Bindings"
5. Then check if you're keybinds are there or not. If not, you may be able to establish a User.ini file by changing a keybind. Maybe.

Never use the default.ini as it is not meant to replace the user.ini. file. A lot of us do not have the user.ini and the programming defaults to the Defuser.ini files. Check your DefUser.ini for your keybinds and if they are there, then do as Dragon said.

Nope; it says "Unrecognized Command" when I try to type "Preferences" in the console. The keybinds aren't in the Defuser.ini file, and I'm fairly sure the file was missing before I made my weapon keybinds, so I doubt it'll accomplish anything to change a single keybind now.
No worries, though; if it's remembering my keybinds without the file, then no harm no foul. Just seems very odd that it's gone.

one thing i've found is before you re-install be sure after running the automated de-install say in windows you must go in after and physically remove the UT folders and system folder, they do not get removed.
