I blame Flak Monkey

With the problems he was having it jinxed my computer!
had a few shut offs yesterday, vid gone but power to the system, so I dug into it to day and went and got some air to blow it out thought it might be the cpu fan acting up again.

NOPE! the fan on my vid card died! So when it got hot it would basically shut the system down with a thump out of the speakers. I have a geforce fx500 card with 128 mb of mem I got someplace so I dumped that in after uninstalling the ati drivers and DL'n the drivers for it. Just about screwed the thing to the wall! I had to go round and round trying to set video options just to be able to see and read things! jerked that out and put in my readon 7000 card that has the 64mb that I had in here before. well I'm gonna be laggy in some things now with it but it works and that's what counts! I'll check into finding a replacement fan in town but this is a small fan like 36/37 mm across with 3 screw mounting, found some on e-bay but not sure they will work......and to top it off the cpu fan is making noise and speeding up and slowing down so I'm going to go into the basement and find my old can of tv tuner cleaner and lube and use that on it until I can procure a new fan for it.

I wish this stuff on nobody. Tho I now get to deal with it every day, which I love. Some day, you will be able to afford to build a new rig and it will be perfect for years and years...

Oh sure as the wife drops 1800 down on a new used car so we can dump the old one and save about 150 on the monthly bills! Told here I need to order the parts to fix it off e-bay she goes whith what money?

edit: Oh and the parts are going to be like 15- 20 bucks with shipping!

LOL thanks Road but the card is fine its just the fan that died on it and she just let me order up the new fan from Hong Kong @$2.14 the card would work but would shut system down when it got hot, so hopefully it was not damaged in the short time that I used it until I figured out what it was. That card is a X1050 w/256 mb on it. and she let me order up a new heat sink fan combo for the cpu since its been about 6 months since I fixed it the last time! She even thought I had bought a new one then until I told how I fixed it and she probably checked and did not see any paypal transactions that I did in like well over a year and that was for the step-daughters boy friend!

the cpu fan is being quite right now but I have been turning it off when not in use and it does make noises when it starts up saw her look funny at me the other morn as she walked thru with coffee as I started the comp. lol So by the end of the month I should be back up and run'n with the card with no lag in DC and not much in CA

Edit: the fan/sink combo is $10.91 after tax with free ship so all came to just over $13 and she thought I wanted to spend alot! want new puter is what I want! LMAO!!
