Anyone here run 64 bit OS (XP, Vista, 7) and UT successfully? Question posed as I'm thinking if I build a new rig in the future, I may want more than 4GB of RAM, and the only way to allocate that is to have a 64 bit OS. I just want to be sure that all my key software will run right on it.
Most of what I run is 5+years old (except my AV) and I want it to still work right.

Well, of course UT2k4, UT3, Photoshop 7, NetObjects Fusion 7, Office '03, Sound Forge 5 and others. Just to name what I use most at this time...but I got a lot of stuff.
I'm sure that I will do a clean install and re-install everything and restore user files from the old drive....I'm a software hoarder from way back.

But this is a long ways away. Windows 8 may be out by then. Was just hoping what I run now will run on a 64 bit OS.

Anything software that came out after NT 4.0/2000 should be good. Do not expect any DOS based software to work unless you set up virtual windows and/or emulators within XP/Vista/Win 7.

XP 64 has minimal support for drivers, so stay away from it. Stay away from Vista 32/64 if possible--it's a memory and space hog. Go with Win 7 64 if possible--it's everything Vista should have been and wasn't. Currently, my laptop is running Win 7 64 Ultimate and so will the desktop when back on line. That's how much I think of Win 7.

I wont go with XP or Vista 64, want to be current. Especially with new hardware. Was just seeing if anyone had any issues with their old 32 bit apps and games with 64 bit OS.
When I upgrade the wife, will order win7 (or 8 if it takes that long) ultimate 64 and put it on my system as she wants to stay with what she has. So that will be a hoot to see if XP is supported by the new hardware on the Mobo and such. But I get to do a drive mirror, then a re-validation (XPs copy protection with all the new hardware found) and see how that plays out. But that's down the road.
Just bored and was just thinking of this...so I thought I would throw it out there to see what the masses have experienced with 64 bit of what they have.

I have no qualms suggesting Win 7 Ultimate 64. Only programs that will not work are the old DOS based programs.
