DoS attack and server crashes on 7/4-7/5

After hopping on the server this evening, we had what appeared to be several players hitting the server with enough messages (and perhaps more) to cause the server to get really jerky. In one case, we managed to kick the player (name of something like "okokokok") and things returned to normal. But later, we had another player with a name like "fidget" who was on the machine while we played a DM game on Tricky. In this instance, it appears that the server crashed. This was in the timeframe of about 0400-0600 GMT on 7/5.

the person last night was attempting to crash server so I started kick vote,succeeded he came back later and crashed server (started a kick as soon as I saw him return).
what is the purpose ? we are a friendly server ,and have some simple rules we all follow. this is the reason I rarely play LFD2.
I mean come on people your so full of rage you have to waste your time and crash a game that is as old as this ?

) ,is it possible to have some new admins to help with issues like these when they occur ?

I have spoken with Dru about this, but if we perhaps continue to post information here, he might track down the parties responsible for it, block them, and perhaps even report them to their ISP or the FBI. (who knows... a friend of mine who is an agent may even end up working the case...LOL)

I second this motion! These types of issues seem to occur more often than you would think (Yeah I'm on the server maybe too much lol) not necessarily people that have such malicious intent as to try to crash the server but voice/chat spammers, campers, disruptive players, etc. Without an admin these are extremely difficult, if not impossible, to tolerate.

True, we do have other lives but I didn't think that I was not on that much..........

Were these players playing or spectators? As admins, we can ban them if they are playing, but if they are spectators, we cannot since the admin website does not have spectator information.

Thus, if there is a spectator trying to reaise havoc, please type in "admins, please see this" in caps and it will be looked at.

If it was that Fatality1 guy, he was a real nut-head. He tried to kick me after i tried to stick up for him. Bit of a weirdo. Glad Druid has fixed it.
