I never read any of the HP books, but I've seen every movie and I have loved all of them. IMO, they seemed to get better with each film (not sure if the books were that way).

I honestly didn't think I'd like the franchise but the movies are very well done.

Normally my wife doesn't go to theaters either, but I managed to drag her to The Dark Knight in Imax (she LOVED it), and more recently Avatar in 3D Imax (she didn't love that one). I'm hoping she'll go see the last HP movies with me. She actually likes the movies, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

The books were good too and they will fill in some of the details missing froim the movies. I have all 7 books.

Each book was to be more "grown up" than the next. Not only because the characters are growing, but the readers are as well. So it's intended to get darker and more serious as the story progresses.

We have the collectors box set of the first 5 years (The Trunk Box) We rented the last one a few months ago...still gotta buy that one. But I'm going to have to wait till about the time part 2 comes about to see part 1. I don't wanna...but heaven forbid I go out and have any fun without the wife, even though she doesn't want to go.

yes I do believe that having to wait 7-8 months for the next movie / 2nd part of the movie to come out is not right, but yes wait for part 2 to come out and the watch in 1 sitting with bathroom and munchie breaks!

I did that with LOTR. On opening day of the 3rd, my friends and I sat and watched the first 2 extended versions in a row and then went out and saw the last. It literally was an all day marathon at 3 hrs a movie. I still do that with our box sets. When I feel like it, I will watch all the movies in a set, 1 each night. I don't know how many times I have seen LOTR or Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, X-Men, Pirates of the Caribbean... But if I didn't like the movies enough to watch them over and over, I wouldn't have bought them.

I have not picked up the 3rd LOTR yet but not sure if I want to maybe just out of curiosity. they hacked the books pretty bad and I have read those a good 6+ times thru the yrs.

I managed to get 1 & 2 at a good price from yard sales thats why I have them and not 3 yet

I save myself the disappointment of book to movie comparisons by not reading the books. I know, typically, the books are better, but I like a story to be told to me within a few hours.. Books make me sleepy...like the news.

they call me the PotterPedia! I LOOOOOVE the Books! lol Wombat keeps saying he wont go to see another HP movie with me in theaters cuz I sit there and "grr" during the movie when they TOTALLY cut out such HUGE parts of the movies. The Order of the Phoenix was the worst to sit through. they didnt give Nevil ANY freakin credit to all he did and the rest of them! They kicked SERIOUS freakin tail before the order arrived in the Hall of prophecies!!! Yet in the movie its "ooh no!!! lets run through a door and then WHOOSH! the order is here!!! yay we're saved!!!" Where as they were fighting a good hour or more in there before help arrived in the book and their was SERIOUS injuries to them all. Sorry i read and listen to the books ALL the time!!! I know them quite well! And im proud to say it! Im a book freak! And a Titanic Freak! and an Egypt freak lol!!! I love being a freak!! its oh so much fun! But ya i like the movies but the books...well they are and always will be in a class of their own! Total wicked awesome genius! And the movies cant really be compared....i REALLY hope that they get the last one right...I Really do...
I love books!!! I refuse to get the electronic books or anything. i looove holding a book. the paper! The smell of them! And opening a new book is the best! Though i SERIOUSLY LOVE old old old books! I have finally started trying to get a collection gathered up!! I just need a case! And a room to put them in lol!!!

Sand worms...ya hate em right?!

I unfortunately lost hundreds of books when I moved back to Calif.due to not being able to find a job and pay for the storage! I had over $5K in cover cost! I was told that it would probably be over $15K to replace them, IF I could find the replacement book! I had stuff with 25 and 35 cents as the cost of them.

I feel your pain. Seems like every time I moved, I had to lose a collection. First was my Boy Scout Museum. Segmented out for 5K. Then my Wildey, Harley, Knives, Lego, another Harley. Only collection I got left is the poison bottles that my wife and I put together for the past 3 years. That has taken some sever hits in the past 4 months selling of some of the best things to get money.

I think back on it all, and I get sad...very sad.
