entropy!

i got this question..

why we call null entropy to some weapons?

i think thats a mistake, i might be wrong, since im not a english speaker, but entropia and entropy is the same spanish and english.

anywhy, entropy i belive it means a a tendency towards disorganization http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy

and null means, zero, absence of something. which clearly means

a system that dosent have any form of disorganization

in other words,
something that is really well organizated

which clearly has nothing to do with some form of petrification

note: im not saying hey change it, to me is the same, its just a small observation, how come that mysterial ( the one that coded RPG UT2k4, didnt know that?)

I think it is refering to its term in Physics. In thermodynamics, which i know little about, it is something to do with the amount of energy of heat, measured in joules/kelvin.

I think mysterial meant it in the sense that the weapon would loose you all your energy (hence not moving). Although if we are being particular, movement is not directly a form of heat, so your couldnt really apply the term enthalpy to it.

yes entropy is a word in thermodinamics, however yes it mean not a direct lose of energy, but energy moving towards another instanse..
however it also can be apply to other stuff..

a clasic example, could be my bedroom, my mom always ask why is so messy (clearly she dosent know the second law of thermodinamics,) things are more likely to be messy, since i take contact with things, i move them and rearrange them, and they just lose the organization.

if that example didnt take a small smile, you could learn from the example that i have been teached, if a pen gets broken the ink will spread, and once it spread in let say a table it isnt going back to the pen, and the stain will spread.

I believe the Null Entropy weapon was created by Druid, not Mysterial. So Druid might be able to tell us himself why he named it so.

Well according to the definition of Entropy:

S=Q/T

S= entropy
Q=Heat content of the system
T=Temperature of the system

Temperature is a number that is related to the average kinetic energy of the molecules of a substance. If temperature is measured in Kelvin degrees, then this number is directly proportional to the average kinetic energy of the molecules.

Heat is a measurement of the total energy in a substance. That total energy is made up of not only of the kinetic energies of the molecules of the substance, but total energy is also made up of the potential energies of the molecules.

Simple algebra will tell us why "null entropy" within game means "stopping completely"

Null means absent, non-existent, insignificant.

Null entropy means absence of entropy (Order, chaos or disorder)

So in order for a system to exhibit null entropy, according to the formula, Q (heat of the system) HAS to be zero (So potential energy and kinetic energy must add up to zero). T CANNOT be zero.

So if Q is zero, that means, system has ZERO kinetic energy and ZERO potential energy, which in turn means, all movement is equal to zero, no movement at all.

Simpler terms, no entropy = no movement. Makes sense after all right? According to entropy formula.

entropy. at my understanding, is a word that measure, how well or how bad is organizated a system..
meaning if we have a system with a lot of entropy = chaotic system, lot of data lost, or energy is not hold within the system, energy flows to another system

if a system holds total order in his energy = he have the kinestic energy, thus can move...

sorry for using wikipedia, but i really cant explain it in english and using physics, im just not train for it..

so if Q = 0, means that the system isnt passing energy to another system; Q dosent measure the heat (energy) present in a body or system it rather measure how much heat (energy)is lost due the contact with another body or system, or how much is lost due other factors ( dont know the words)

if a krall isnt bypassing energy to another system (air for instance) then the krall keeps his own energy.. therefore if he has energy he can move..

entropy = bad

ok, i have asked to a really close friend of mine, he works at the uni, and he gives math and stuff like that,

entropy is given in every aspect of life, cat be 0, it could be close, but in no way 0,

now i know we are in a game so i will say entropy can be zero, if so it means energy is not lost..

I had problems with statements from wiki:

Wiki is NOT 100% reliable. You're better off asking a physics professor or picking up a college physics book.

There are two formulas that describe entropy

S=Q/T and S= k log W (Statistical thermodynamics)

First one describes exchanges of energies, second describes the relationship between entropy and measurement of order or arrangement of atoms or molecules(W)

Entropy does not measure how well or how bad a system is organized ONLY. Entropy is about states of energy, exchanges of energies as well.

Entropy is a difficult subject. You have to know about conservation of energy and its laws. About difference between heat and temperature, about work, force and other forms of the second law of thermodynamics. You have to know that entropy can be applied to a enclosed or open system. Entropy can be applied to reversible processes and irreversible processes.
