Trouble Loading

Soooo, New computer is running quite awesomely. (Sigh) Now I just wish I could get in and play UT. I keep trying to get in and it says that a static mesh is not allowed to download.

. So I don't know what to do at this point except update everything.

. Look forward to being back in action.

here are the instructions,.

go to c:/ut2k4/staticmeshes directory, and find the static mesh that is having the problem..

just delete it.. then when you connect to a server the static meshe will download. and you will have the correct version

(try to move the static mesh, so if anything happens you are covered)

It says that the connection failed downloading 'DCMonstersStaticMech' Not allowed. (Sigh)(Sigh). Does that have something to do with my static mesh files or something to do with my firewall that happens to be on? Not quite sure.

take your firewall of for a sec.. if it works. its firewall.. if not . do what i told you.

some fire walls close the ports that UT and some games need to play online . there should be a setting in your firewall if it does turn out to be that is causing the problems to allow exceptions and you should be able to find a listing for UT in the list of game types choose it and that should be that!

If the firewall blocks a port used by UT, no communication would happen. You wouldn't even see any servers to connect to.
If it's the firewall impeding this action, then it's a port filter, where only certain types of behavior (packets) is allowed.

Regardless, turn it off, as mentioned, temporarily and see if the problem continues. If so, try a different server and see if you get the same issue ( I would try first one that runs unmodified UT first, then a custom one.)

Alright so I have gone to other servers and loaded up fine but with the DC server that specific DCMonster StaticMesh file that wants to download can't for some odd reason. Tried tearing down the firewall and that didn't work. Tried moving the entire static mesh file off the computer and then I couldn't even get into the game and lastly I looked all over for the DCMonster Static mesh file in UT file and couldn't find it.

weird.. some moths ago i had problems with some maps, i had a map (lets call it DM-gael), and that map is different from the server map (also called DM-Gael), so i couldnt play that map, because i had differences from my map and the servers map... so i had a miss match erro ( i belive it saied something like that). the solution was to delete my map, and to let the computer download the right version-..
i think thats the sameproblem with you.. could you snapshot the error?

The DCMonstersStaticMesh is a DC one for the red skaarj etc.

Check if you have it in your UT2004\StaticMeshes folder - if so delete it.

Then check if it is in your cache. Edit file UT2004\cache\cache.ini file. If it is mentioned there, remove the line that mentions it and also delete the file from the cache folder that has the file name on the line. e.g. if you have a line
4722037643E398F8A90F37A8AC368CBD-1=DCMonstersStaticMesh.usx
then remove that line from the cache.ini file and delete the file
4722037643E398F8A90F37A8AC368CBD-1.uxx

Then try connecting again.

If it still fails, pm me an email address and I will email you a copy of the file which you can put in your UT2004\StaticMeshes folder.

Too weird....I don't even see that file in my list.

. (Kicks Cache Folder) When I get home from work I'll take a Screen shot of what it is bringing up and post. Maybe though with the file that may get sent it would work lickety split. Thanks all who are helpin me get back into the groove of UT. Oh and one side note I am thinking of getting UT3.

true ut3 is awesome.. the reaaally bad kick.. i dont play ut3.. so neither the community... its "empty"..think it twice.

The Trouble loading problemhas been corrected and therefore this thread may be deleted. The problem was I had not gotten the Patch yet so therefore couldn't download anything. (Sigh). Wow what an easy fix.

ahhhh the old 3369 patch glitch!
