OK so I just bought my new computer tonight. So hoping not to sound stupid I have all this crap on this computer. If I back up all the files where do I back them up to an external hard drive and cut and paste or do I load it on a Disk? I'm sure once my new computer gets here I'll have more questions to ask yall. Wish me luck.

well both have their good points and bad points
external drive will be faster and hold more than disks but to hard of a smack and could loose drive or around to high of a magnitic field would do same
disks hold less unless you use dvd dl they take a lil more abuse and still be easliey fixed and read from with no cables attached, easier to take with verses a external drive also smaller space on shelf and so forth
you can drag and drop the files to the drive(s) on ether method you choose to use, or use a usb cable and hook to new and copy them over and stick whole thing in closet until/if you need em again
called keep old system as backup incase new one freaks out!

I see I see. Sounds like the USB cable and copy and pasting is my faster easier deal on either count. Thanks Dom. Video Card wise is the 9800 GT from Nvidia with 1 gig of memory better than the E-GeForce 7800 GS with only 256 MB? Another is what in the world is the diff between a ddr2 and ddr3? Last one is how much of a difference would it make from going to a processor that processes 2.6 Ghz to one that processes at 2.9 and if I wanted to overclock it how would I go about doing that?

Another option is to slave the old drive in the new computer. If you dont feel comfortable about that, then dont bother. It's a bit of messing around the the transfer rates are much faster. Just depends on how much stuff your backing up.
As for vid cards.. Yes, the 9800 is a later gen card and has more memory. Whether you need that much or not is depending on what you will be using it for.
DDR2 is for Core 2 class machines or later gen P4s, and DDR3 is for Core i series procs and work off of different addressing, power usage and timing.
You probably wont wont see a big difference between the two proc speeds as there isn't a big speed difference. Overclocking is a thing that depends on the chip and the mobo. I know overclocking Cor i series is a bit more involved and technical than previous gen procs.

Me being not mech of a Computer Techie I don't think I'm gonna bother with the overclocking thing. But here's the computer I'm getting mainly for gaming purposes http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5376868&CatId=114
Hopefully it's better than this one I have now which is a Dell Dim4600 with an Inter Pentium 4 Processor at 2.8 GHz. Just wanted to show yall the differences.

Fire,
Think of DDR as a highway........DDR 2 means you have 2 lanes heading each way, DDR 3 means you have 3 lanes heading each way, thus the DDR3 can handle more traffic than DDR2.
As Flak said, the 9800 is 2 generations newer than the 7800 and is able to have more VRAM than the older cards. I'm still running 8800's on this computer.

Probably chiming in a bit late:
but for file transfer, go with what Flak mentioned and slave the drive.
With a USB connection, you are only going to get up to a 20mb/s xfer rate. You should be able to get 40-60Mb/s by connecting the drive internally.
As for transfering your files, drag and drop works...but I prefer robocopy (should be a built in command in vista, and downloadable from MS for xp)
The reason why I like robocopy (it is a command line program) is because you can interrupt the transfer and resume later.
It might be a little overwhelming at first, but can be a very handy utility.
With that said, if you only have a couple of gigs to transfer, do what you feel comfortable with.
