As some of you know, my youngest child has 3 tours in Afganistan and 2 in Iraq-the 3rd tour in Iraq is coming up soon.

My oldest step son just got back last month from his 3rd tour of Iraq
1st tour he was in the ambush in Sadar city that hit the news he lost 4 out of his platoon and another 4 KIA from the battalion that attempted rescue and like 86 WIA there is even a book that was wrote about that day. He got a Bronze Star from that day.

he was not happy when he found out that on last tour he was going back to the same city as the 1st tour

if ya wanna read the book its called The Long Road Home by Martha Radditz (not sure of the authors name but close with out grab'n the book)

I feel sad for the currant military for the poor training and mental prep for war they get in boot camp all because of whinner's to mommy how had it is in boot and them complain'n to their congrossman and change'n the way they are trained!....I saw it happening when I was in the army! I went in just after nam and we was taught that we are going to die just do your job and not worry about die'n!...now the have "Time Out" cards to give the drill Sgt if ya think he's give'n ya to much crap!

I'm very PROUD of my step son and all who serv in the military!

Just wish it was us old farts that go and not the young who have they life still ahead of them!

Us old farts are too mean and nasty. We would not put up with any bs at all. That's why the services don't want us.

one of my fav movies is G.I.Jane! But i have a feeling by what was just said that the training is extremely different now then it was in that movie and back in nam (i lost my uncle in nam), ect. which to me makes me kinda mad. i wonder if one day they'll all get there and stand in shock of what to do and what they see because of lack of training. but i hold each and every single brave soul who fights for us with the deepest respect.

Yup, they are all awesome!! Two friends in the Marine Corps and my brother was in the Marines.
