Hey my brother is thinking about purchasing Unreal 2004

He has Windows 7 and had read that you could download a patch before loading the software. Does anyone know about this patch?

It depends on how he purchases it. If he buys it in disc form, there is a patch to 3369 here: http://downloads.unrealadmin.org/UT2004/Patches/Windows/ (last two downloads)

If he gets it from steam, he shouldn't need to patch it.

Other forums don't seem to show any problems with running it in Win7. Some posts mention that he might need to install directX9, but I think that might be a mistake, because win7 comes with directX10 which should be compatible with 9 (and 10 is what vista has also)

I run my ut 2004 on Windows 7. Don't need to install DirectX, but since I have game on DVD I do need to apply 3369 patch right after the game installation, if you don't, no server will allow you to play. This happened to me a while back till I applied the patch.
