Facebook

Well, I was figuring that there was only one person who could have gotten me onto facebook... the same one who got me onto MySpace. And given that she was no longer with us, I figured I would not be on facebook... But I forgot that what one person might be able to do easily, given enough who cannot individually do it combining together, they can do the same (the addage about monkey's writing the complete works of Shakespeare comes to mine). In my case, it was my new wife, several dozen close friends (including at least on DCer), and the fact that my group at work is partnered with facebook, and my group has like a 95% membership ratio... resistance was futile and I was finally assimilated....

So not seeing a thread for facebook in particular, or social networking sites like it, LiveJournal, and MySpace in general... here is one.

It might also help to let me know you are a DCer, since like many of my friends who I might know by one name, such as "Sir Such-and-such", not to realize that their real name was "Reed Johnson" even after decades, in lots of instances, I probably will not recognize who you are without the help.

My problem with facebook is that they expect to see a "face".

LMAO my wife says she can't figure out why I'm not on it yet!

I have mixed feelings about being on it or MySpace. However, it is the main way I can stay in contact with old friends I have not seen in 10, 20, or in some cases 35+ years, some of whom I would love to see in person. Throw in family, and the fact that I got to see pictures of the new baby my niece had a couple of weeks ago, etc. and it balances things out a bit. I still wish, however, that it had been my VBFF who had encouraged me to get on there.
