Windows Vista

Does anyone play UT with Windows Vista installed? If so, is it worse, better, same? We are looking into getting some new pc's and the question of how UT would run on Vista came up. So any info would be greatly appriciated, Thanks!

If possible, don't go the Vista route-use your old XP OS on your new machines if possible. Vista is a memory/harddrive hog.

If you buy Vista now, you should get a free upgrade to Windows 7 in October. I have no idea how Windows 7 runs UT. I have a laptop running Vista. It doesn't play UT as well as XP, despite the DX10 driver.

I don't care for Vista. I have XP on my desktop and my wife has Vista on her laptop. Had some compatability issues when setting her up on my home network. Vista is definitely a resource hog.

I like my XP and will run it until Microsoft puts out something better.

You should wait until 7. I have the 1 year "trial" installed on my comp and it runs pretty well. Better than vista I would say, but I haven't tried UT yet.

We run vista, but we'll likely be upgrading to Windows 7 via the Family Pack as soon as it's available.

Exit Vista to Windows 7 as soon as possible.

Well that's the problem we seem to be running into, buying the computers at the local Best Buy or such, they only seem to be coming with Vista installed on them already. Where besides Best Buy would you shop for a pc in person? We don't have Circuit City's here anymore.

There are usually locally owned pc shops, they'll generally be more willing to sell you the exactly what you want, but you'll also generally spend a little bit more.

If you want a better deal, try newegg.com. If you're not sure what you want, just check at best buy, and make a note of the pc config that you liked, and look for something similar on newegg.

I second the plug for Newegg. Love that site. I usually get my PC parts from them.

Make that three for newegg.com. Good stuff.

make that 4 for newegg. any computer part that I cannot or will not get off e-bay comes from newegg.
