I have noticed recently some players are placing sentinels under the map, where they can still shoot monsters but monsters cannot shoot the sentinel.

Based upon rule 4 of part III of this thread, I would suggest that this behavior is not acceptable. Can an admin please clarify?

Thanks

As far as I'm concerned, that is outright cheating and the player should have a permanent ban.

Well, that may be a bit harsh for first offense. Should be warned to remove his items from the maps "hole", as we would warn anyone for language or spamming. But no other warnings as far as I'm concerned.

Being the old crank that I am, I see that a warning, or for that matter, repeated warnings do not seem to work until they have been kicked off the map the first time.

Not to mention that they have read and agreed to the rules prior to being allowed to play, which includes not using the loopholes in the map.

(old crank) Your right, they did agree at the start of the game, as everyone does.

i was on that day with you killa and he said it a whole different way then you did but basically what he was saying is that he wasnt cheating. Here is how he said it.

Astra quote""
If it can spawn there then it is considered part of the map.

End quote""
But as i was spectating his sent you have a hard time viewing it except at a certain angle and you cant even heal the sent after it is spawned. so it can shoot and never get hurt.

Before this gets to be a witch hunt against individual players, can an admin clarify the situation.

If it is ok, then there is no problem. If it is not ok, then mere players online need to be able to inform offenders that admins have said it is not acceptable - mere players cannot make up the rules.

And quickly please before others start copying the tactic if individuals are seen to be getting away with it.

Thanks

not an admin, but it does seem to go against the spirit of the rule if not the exact definition

This issue is pretty cut and dry IMO.

Let's walk through this:

DC purposely gets rid of buggy maps, e.g. maps with "holes". Therefore, buggy maps = bad.

There are still a few maps we play that have the occasional bug. Knowingly taking advantage of such bugs is considered an exploit, if not outright cheating.

Therefore any player who knowingly (evident in this case) uses exploits/cheats, is in violation of DC policy.

What admin chooses to do about it is up to them.
