Need some cheering up

Found out today that in all likelyhood next Tuesday will be my last day at work. The remodel job I'm working on wraps up on that day, and my foreman told me that they don't have any jobs to send me to.

I had already asked if he would tell the powers that be that I am more than willing to sit at home unpaid for a while if it helps. Unfortunately for me, some others have already gone on "vacation" which means that they probably won't allow me to do the same.

Taking a layoff as a union electrician in my local pretty much means you will be unemployed for 8 months to a year.

So barring a miracle, I'm in for some rough times.

If you all could just send me some positive thoughts and prayers, I'd appreciate it.

Now I'm off to go take my frustration out on some deserving monsters.

It seems that we have a lot of players losing their jobs nowadays. Is there any nearby work areas that you can commute to that have openings?

Hang in there, E. I dont know which is worse, knowing it's going to happen or it just given to you one morning (as it did to me). Never the less, it's never a good thing. But you have very marketable skills. I'm sure you can find something relatively quickly.

Have you considered a temporary re-location?

if i were rich i would hire you as security guard. But im not rich so i hope you the best of luck on your job. and if you do get the word not to be spoken. I hope you can find an even better job.

Good news and bad news.

The good news is I still have a job....for now.

The bad news is that I will be sitting home indefinitely on unpaid leave until further notice.

Hopefully my contractor gets some work in the next few weeks or it may turn into a layoff.

Well I'm back to work.....at least until September. They sent me to a small job working on a new light rail station.

The bummer is that they layed off about 10 more electricians and there still is no work forthcoming. Hopefully I can buy enough time until this job ends in a month or two so that they can land some more work.
