A bit of news from my home front...

A very small number of you know all the bovine fecal material which has filled my life to overflowing the past few years. Been too much of it, and not gonna list it here in the slightest. But along with all that, there have been a few gems hidden in it, just like the gems of power were hidden in the dung of Vicia-Heniox's cave in Robert Don Hughes Prophet of Lamath series, there have been little gems hidden in mine. And I was a bit remiss in not sharing one of them with folks. But in talking with Pyro earlier today, I realized this, and so...

Last Summer, at a little SCA event called the Pennsic War (if you can call 11K+ people "little"), I surprised myself and my GF Linda/Cat by using the French F word... you know... the one which starts "Fi" and goes on with "ancee" in a discussion. Well, the fact that we even ended up in a relationship was surprising, but having said the word, it became clear to me (in some part due to friends questions, but in part it was just something like my name) that I had to do something about it, more official. And so, I arranged to be called up in front of a medieval court of our local Baron and Baroness, and started a nice, flowery speech thanking folks for welcoming me back into the SCA after a long absense. And just like this, I stated that I had someone to thank in a way more special than others, and I had her called in, where I proposed to her in the more traditional way. I know some of you are wondering if there are pictures, and yes there are... you can see the ring I gave her, along with me surprising her in a way even she did not expect (she trusted me in that I was up to something, but not what I was really up to)... you can see them at:

Well, the wedding is not going to be what we had thought it would be (thanks to that bovine fecal material), and is instead something we are holding in the yard of the place we are renting in Pittsburgh. And that is going to be on June 6th. It is not going to be anything real fancy given our finances, but there should be a good number of photos with most of us wearing our medieval finery.

Well, I need to blow away some bugs, but now the rest of you know what Pyro, Panda and a very short list of others have known.

My brother, congratulations! A gem it is indeed. It is not the grandness of the event that matters, my friend, it is the two people that are partaking in it and how they feel that matters. (BTW, good choice on the date, tis my birthday, one of the most improtant days in the history of time!) Anyway, all of the digested organic material aside, you now have each other to turn to, and that is huge.

OK Peeps... I have a album which I have yet to organize, rotate pics and such, but I figured folks would enjoy a sneak peak of the wedding which took place this past Saturday. There were a number of folks including my wife's sister and brother-in-law, who were taking photos of the event, and I do not yet have all the photos from them. Things went well at the wedding, though we had lost both sets of keys to the van Friday evening in the chaos of having 13 people staying at our house and several others stopping by to let us know they were in town before heading off to their hotel rooms. This meant that some friends had to take us to dinner at Olive Garden, where a good friend of ours, the local Baroness of the SCA barony in which we live, joined us. While she and her husband were originally planned as part of the wedding party, she had to go to a SCA event which was scheduled after our wedding, and he was stuck at home after having surgery on his shoulder earlier last week. But the keys were found around 9:30PM Saturday evening, and after opening the presents and cards, and celebrating the end of the Jewish Sabbath with my brother (who converted to Judiasm when he married his wife), we headed off to a local hotel for the weekend.

Wish you guys (especially you Pyro, and a few select others) could have been there. Had you been close enough, you definitely would have been on the invite list, even given the greatly reduced size of the wedding.
