Hey guys. I am pretty sure I am in the right thread but please don't keel me if I'm not. I have a server runnig UT2004RPG + DRUIDSRPG v2.0 and tons of neato mods but I wanted to add team play to this and I seem to be at a loss... :/
I don't know if anyone is familiar with the UT2004 Digital-Uprising MMO-Beta server from a while back, but I am trying to recreate that and then enhance the experience to be better than it was there. That server unfortunatley went away and I can't find the admin to pick his brain.
Can anyone help me figure out how to add teams to this gametype?
To describe the Digital-Uprising server a bit further:
Thay had a city you could capture by blowing up the reactor, a dungeon you could go to and defeat several monsters in several different levels in the dungeon until you got to the queens with super duper hit points. (it was for leveling and required several peeps teaming up together ((TEAM NEUTRAL)) to beat the monstas!
Also you could buy vehicles in the city if your team occupied it and You could also buy cities!!! if you got rich enough (STATS POINTS). Then you could also PVP to level up as well. The map never ended and it was just one huge GiNormous map and they were constantly improving it. You also had plenty of monsters to fight as well and they also had "Team Biased" monsters in the city that only attacked players on the team that did not control the city.
It was a great idea and many peeps LOVED IT! Since they went away I have been trying to recreate it so I can make it into what I think they were shooting for.
If anyone remembers that server, please join with me to help recreate that awesome Team Invasion + PVP experience. Its sure to be a hit.
Mostly for now I really need advice on how to make this invasion server team based. I want 2 teams for starters but I might add more teams later.

LAte Edit: BTW it is hosted at this IP 75.44.50.222 Its a dynamic ip but it should stay there for a while otherwise you can add my names to your buddy list to find it. I'm always on it most of the time anyway.

OK I got 22 view and no response. I must be way off track. Is this the right place to be asking about this?
BTW I have an idea how I might accomplish this. I was thinking maybe to have a deathmatch map with no time limit and add monster spawns ... maybe? IDK I am still learning.
Ok well anywya I hope someone finds my lonely thread and can give me some advice... :/

I didn't play on the Digital-Uprising site, so can't comment on what they did.
The concept of a never ending game that just continues could be quite an interesting mod. Similar to a way a lot of the massive online games are.
As far as teams in invasion is concerned, I vaguely remember playing a Team Invasion game at one point. Looking through the mod files on my machine, I found one called TInvasion, which modified the standard invasion to put teams in. Can't remember how good it was.

Hey Szlat,
Thanks for the info! Funny thing, I had just found that MOD right before you posted lol! But I do appreceaite the input. Now I am trying to limit how many levels between players are needed to kill another player on the opposite team.
Example:
If I am level 3 (Blue Team) and the opponent (on other team –RED) is level 7 then I could kill him. On the other hand If he was say level 11 then I would not be able to kill him until I was like level 6 or 7.
I don't know if he is supporting it anymore either but I sent him an email just in case he is willing to help and yeah I am still figuring out the never ending game time limit. That way peeps don't have to keep downloading and reconnecting (A real pain in the @$$!).
Yeah if you know anything else though I would really appreciate your help. Come by the server and check it out, you might get some ideas and make some suggestions for improvements. I would love to hear your feedback.

I remember something like this. It was called Team Invasion. It was the same thing as Team Deathmatch, only the game had the same features as Invasion. Basically two teams battle each other and the monsters and whatever team has the most points wins. The sad thing is that no one was given an "OUT!" when they died. Everyone would simply respawn.

Yeah I disabled the forced respawn on my server so you can have an out. I am also limiting the super weps so no one person can own everyone. Trying to make it possible to get the upper hand on your attacker. That makes it more fun.

Does anyone know how I can limit the ability to kill other peeps? Something like within 5 levels you can kill others otherwise your shot are useless. This is to prevent the higher level players from dominating the newbies. I don't want the new peeps to get scared away.

gotta love that part-- sounds really AWE-some.
If i'd ever play a server like that... lol
you guys know something liek build servers? well this is basicly invasion with already build in buildings.... lol
