I'm having game problems...

Hey everyone,

Whenever I play lately, the game would freeze for a bout 2-3 seconds then release. This would happen about 5-10 times during a match. It would progressively get worse and the game would freeze and lock the computer. I've tried reinstalling the game but it's still the same. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?

Also, what's the command line for keybinds? I know it starts with "setinput", then what?

I would appreciate any suggestions about my game problem. Thanks.

P.S., I've been playing WoW lately so if anyone wants to look me up i'll be on the Colifang server using the name "Nightshaadow"

it can be a number of issues,

1.dust in the fan or inner workings of the pc.
2. system file thats minor corrupted.
3. dieing memory chip,or processor.
4.overheatin
5.fx card stress
6.sound card stress
7. virus or similar pc bug
8.pc power source
9. the power saveing option inside windows.
10.Bios issue.

fixes.. First always check DXdiag it will overall tell you of any errors off the bat,.

1. turn off the pc.remove all metal from your hands,.clean,remove dust from the inside and the fans of your pc.

2. run a diagnostic, System defrag. it will tell you if any are corrupted.

3.remove ram sticks and test them 1 by 1 to make sure they or your ram stick slots are working properly

4.open up the side and pump a small fan into it,to see if you run smoother.

5. update video card. go into graphics card option via control panel.and set to PERFORMANCE.

6.update sound card.n video

7. run adware/spybot. anti virus software. lavasoft.com for adware removal prog.

8.the power supply.might be dusty/or old. clean it carefully,

9.in windows there is a power saveing option. set it to max performance..

10. bios. can be a issue,simply enter the bios screen and check to make sure everything looks normal.<if your not nerdy stay out of your bios!>

if all else fails its gonna be a processor issue
or your fiddling with your UT too much.causeing corruptions or congestion on your side.

also if u could give us a a description of your comp specifications ect. it will help us pin point the issue.and is this strictly UT related?

setting keybinds: set input <key> <command>

Have to agree with Mystic.......if all else fails, clean up the physical components (including fans), run the anti-virus/malware programs, make sure all drivers and os updates are done. If no improvement, you might want to consider saving data and erase/re-load the os.

I know when my virus checking software starts to scan I have trouble playing. Check to make sure somethings not running in the background.

any changes in Firewall/Antivirus lately changed my firewall a while back and got rid of UT crashes myself

The computer runs fine while playing other games. Only UT2K4 is having problems.

resinstall fx drivers.

then re install ut2004

then download only the mega patch 3366 ,that will fix your issue,

DO NOT STACK PATCHES, meaning only install the last mega pack 3366 patch only.
