I am now a statistic - Hard times ahead.

After 8 years of service, Monday morning I was laid off of work due to the slowness of the business. My wife and I are kinda scared but confident we will pull through. I do not know exactly what's ahead for us, but change is a commin'. We may stay here (unlikely), but more than likely we will move south, either to Chattenooga, TN. or Savannah, GA. (where she is from). More on this later as I have a seminar to attend tomarrow to see what my options are. At this time...we are in the "Oh my god, what do we do" stage.

My friend, I'm sorry this is happening to you.

In my line of business, I'm seeing a lot of people losing their homes, jobs, businesses, etc and it never gets any easier. Having been in your shoes back in 1997, I know what you are feeling and thinking. Hold your head up high, prepare the resumes, and pray for the best.

BTW, I would recommend, as a former GA resident, Savannah..............at least it's warm there.

Hang in there and as Demon said, work on that resume!

Thank you, my friends. I am in a career training workshop to make my resume shine, and prepare me for the work ahead. I'm half way through it and have 2 more classes next week. Today I take my existing resume and throw some brain dumping onto it, they will shine it up for me.

THis, however, doesnt make any of this any easier. My wife and I are both scared and on edge, and if we do move, it's the middle of winter, not exactly prime weather to do so.

Niether of us are confident a move is the best financial descision. I guess time will tell. I will apply south and here, whoever calls first has me I guess.

Careful, the first job that comes up may not be what you want-investigate the company as best as you can before any interview. I understand that monetary concerns are paramount but just be careful.

So sorry to hear that, Flak. I agree with Demon though - definitely research the companies who contact you before you move for it.

Stay positive and hang in there. The universe doesn't close a door without opening a window first.

I to have been hit by the trickle. I didn't have any work for 4 months and work a total for 4 days this month.

Just tighting my belt and diggin in.

Its all cut off now, getting ready for interviews.. It really sux. I hate my hair short...it's not who I am. I have lost all my power and strength.

Now I look like every other Joe on the street. I'm sad now...I must frag monsters now...

Bummer dude. The economy can has your hair...

I was just at a career fair yesterday and the scene was alarming. Not only because of the sheer number of people there, but there were also some people there that had clearly not been to college in YEARS (maybe decades)

Considering that I use a 3/4" spacer on my hair clippers.............
