Electricity!

Hi all, I'm back.
I have been without power since the 12th, and finally got it back.
It has been an interesting experience.

Has anyone heard from Wayno or Clueless?

Greg, sorry for not responding sooner, I just had a chance to look at the forums. Based on your post and seeing you in the game last week, it sounds like you have electric again and are back on the net.

It sounds like you were without power for much longer than us. We lost it early in the morning on the 13th and got it back the afternoon of the 15th. You would think that we would be happy with only that, but Clue and I both were anxious to get back online and our connection was still down. Luckily, we only had to wait a day after the power came back on to get our internet connection back. Clue said she would rather be without power than the internet, but I refrained from explaining to her how you cannot have the internet without power.

To echo Spike, I hope you did not have much damage. We just lost a tree in the backyard and it fell away from the house.

Did you get any good pictures? I have some of my downed tree, but I don't think they are very interesting.

We faired well with no damage...My area is still pretty new so the trees are still small.
The first day was rough because we had no communication, cable, internet. The radio had some information, but the information didn't help us. Our cellphones didn't work for the first couple of days...we couldn't even text message anyone. I think it was the second day we found out we can drive out to I-45 to get a digital signal to send and receive text messages, but it was tough driving anywhere because of all of the madness at the gas stations.

We had to dump some food, but we ate good. I have alot of neighbors that can cook. Since everyone had to get rid of their food we ate nothing but the best of the food.
We were also very fortunate to have such nice weather. For the most part our houses stayed under 85 degrees. We spent most of the time outside at a picnic table we setup with our neighbors played various games, and just got to know each other better.
I have a 400w inverter for my car that I was able to use to power a tv and dvd player for the kids every now and then to give them "wind down time"
After the first week we were able to get my Dad's generator.

Today we had our first block party with lots of food including deserts this time since we can use our ovens now. We are going to try and not let the flow of electrons keep us locked in our houses, and will have a block party each month.

The only picture I got was of a couple of the kids playing together. There were a couple of cool moments that I wish I would of thought to capture.

I did take a picture one night of the moon. I played around with my telescope, but the mosquitoes eventually got to be too much.

I don't really have a rig for taking pictures through my telescope. I would like to get an imager for it.

I am glad that you are fine, I didn't know that you were in an area that had lost electicity.

I heard a little about wayno and Clue loosing power.

It is good that you are trying to go outside your house and not stay cooped up, but don't stay out too long we like to see you
