Curious: do they make good pets? Or even pets at all? I've never heard of it, but they are cute and I'm sure someone has to have tried to domesticate them.

A brief Google says "Not really, unless you have a scorpion infestation." They will start scent marking at 6-9 months old.

look up Meerkat Manor on the animal planet web site. I'm almost certainly spelling the name wrong but they have a several year series that turns a regular animal style documentary into almost soap opera style performance where they anthropomorphically change all of the animal behaviors into almost human ones.

Just the same, its a very cool show.

Yeah Florida - I keep forgetting there's one in Virginia (or somewhere up north). Do they even have animals there?
