my capslock thingy

I use capslock as my jump button and people get made at me for doing that. If I change it, I wont be able to do anything as I played that way since 98. I have Battlefield 2 and I had to use space and it never worked for me... I would always open the spawn menu insead of jump and that got me killed. if there a way to make it so capslock does not lock caps? like maybe in the user ini have "capslock=jump|capslock" will that work?

is it possible to go into your keyboard options and change that key to another bind .outside of game in windows ?

no as far as I know that cannot be changed. last night I got kicked because of my capslock... annoying but I can't really do anything about it

You could always change your jump key to something that's not the caps lock. That's the easiest solution.

I did a quick google search to find this way to turn off Capslock/turn your capslock into a shift key..but that will turn it off and keep it off whether in game or not...depends if you use Capslock or not or if its a shared computer ...

Alternativly you could change your 'capslock off' button to shift and just make a habit of hitting shift after jump....(To do that go in regioanl settings in control pannel...langauges tab....details button...key settings button and change there and apply/ok..)
That way you dont have to hit caps 2x to turn it off.....just shift...unless thats crouch for you..in which case...uuuh.....

And people used to "look" at me funny when I said I used "A" as a jump key (with an ESDF instead of WASD setup).

Actually, between BF2 and UT2004 I have two different key setups. It's been a while since I've played either, though (current addiction: Lego Star Wars: Complete Saga on the PS3).

as for jason's idea, that wouldn't be bad but shift is another button I already use... its my crouch

edit: ok I looked at the capslock into shift but since I use shift, that is less than optimal. I opened it up for edit so I could change the key to something like \ but the file doesnt have info in it like I thought it would. any ideas?

Bot is correct, the esaiest way to fool your hand and change the keys is to shift where your hand is by one row, in my configuration, I actully shift the keyboard, which places my hand one row over. It also gives you one more rank of keys for minds if you have good reach.

ok I looked at the code Jason posted and the site. I found where it make caps into shift and changed the code to control since I don't use that button. now I can capslock alt delete! it works and I tested it and it all works fine! yea! thanks for the help people!

...I never said you had to use the space bar.
I use shift on my setup. Crouch being control.

you said I should change my layout so caps is not my jump... I was giving example as to why that DOESN'T work
