Because Vista is horrible? I've only used Vista when working on my parent's computer and that was enough for me to hate it.

Hmm, well I enjoy Vista on my laptop for everyday usage, but it was very bad when I tried it on my desktop where I use a wider variety of programs. It has its ups and downs, but even with its problems I'm a bit surprised how fast a new OS is being developed to succeed it... I figured they would have tried fixing issues before jumping ship. Hope they take their time on this one.

I think VISTA took enough time, I just don't think that it went the direction that all of us were expecting, hoping for, wanting.
I have a little tablet pc coming next week with vista on it, its going to be my first experience working with it, I hope I can do what I need to with it, otherwise I may be "exploring" other OS options.
As for a new OS every couple of years, I think its kind of funny that we don't have this stuff figured out. I remember when this new "plug and play" thing was going to come out where all my stuff was supposed to play nice with each other, Now with VISTA i hear that it is something like "we cannot hook up the printer you connected, please buy a newer printer and try again......

Heh, the thing I like about Vista is the automatic drivers... so if I plug in something I don't have to find the drivers myself which has come in handy. Be sure to turn off the warning/security prompt on Vista though or else it'll warn you every time you practically touch the computer hehe.

Well, it has a touch screen so I was thinking I would add a wav file that exclaimed "MOM!!!! he's touching me!" course its likely to get old after like 30 seconds......

After a few hours playing with vista, I can't say that it seems as bad as I have heard that it was going to be. The asking permission for every little thing got annoying in the first 20 minutes and I disabled it.
I am not going to be using this laptop for games very much so game compatibility is not a big deal. The tablet controls and such are intuitive but a little exact from the factory, I made them less so with the settings but I know that I will be tightening up on them later to increase functionality.
