yeah...

The quote from Rep. Mike Noel is classic...

Stephen: Stephen is my name. I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.
Hamish: "Your island"? You mean Ireland?
Stephen: Yeah. It's mine.
Hamish: You're a madman.
Stephen: I've come to the right place then!

Well, the article got one thing wrong. Utah is not the only state to limit the amount of liquor in a shot, nor is it the only state to ban wine coolers and beer ("malt beverages") from grocery stores. Alaska has had the same limits for as long as I can remember. in fact, I have always found it strange to be traveling and pop into a grocery store and see large displays of wine, beer and coolers right there next to the vegetables.

Being able to pick up a 5th of jack from the gas station does have some advantages.

This is something I thought was strange when coming to Utah. I'm used to just going to the grocery store and having a large section devoted to alcohol. Not anymore!!

Dont forget that you all get to conceal carry. Not like in NYC.

If anything, the rules aren't strict enough! You Utahians (sp?) should have to stand on your head while consuming a beverage and sing "I'm a little teacup"!

You don't even need a permit for that in Alaska right now, although it is prohibited in places of worship, bars, liquor stores, airports and city/federal buildings.

Of course, Pennsylvania is an odd egg in this area as well. Outside of buying beer at a restraunt, with something like a pizza, you can buy beer only at a licensed beer distributor, and therefore only by the case or keg.

Funny thing is, yesterday while at lunch with my co-workers, we were talking about this. And one of my co-workers mentioned that you can go into a drive-through in TX and get an open container of beer. Talk about drinking and driving. LOL.

Is this a joke or are you serious? That seems so very backwards!

And I thought it was weird going into a grocery store to buy wine. The first time I met Cham's parents, I wanted to buy a gift (suck up) and knew his dad likes wine. When Cham pulled into a grocery store parking lot, I thought he was nuts.
