Hello all,

First off glad to be back. Still the best server ever!

I seem to be a having a video/game function issue, and maybe someone here may know something I can try.

As waves progress in an invasion match, I start to lose certain graphics and some game function, that only a relog is correcting, thus not allowing me to play straight through an entire game.

Here is the order of my bugs: Lose shot animation, lose the ability to pick up artifacts and new weapons, lose the ability to make a new medic weap (both weaps disappear), lose weapons bar, all monsters become invisible. I can usually time a relog at the end of a wave, buy I really want to be able to play a whole match through.

I am on a Gateway GM5266E, nvidia 7600 GS (drivers are updated), dual core 2.13GHz, 2030 MB RAM

Any suggestions or thoughts would be most welcome.

I had this problem a year ago.

It was alternately blamed on my grapics drivers, UT 2K4 install and my connection to the server.

Driver update did not fix it, but I found that when I re-connected it would take various amounts of time for it to occur again, it was always worse on weekend or when a lot of people were on.

It only stopped happening when I did a 2K4 re-install coupled with a OS re-install.

Hope this helps.

Hey thanks,

I will try a reinstall of the game...will that delete the progress I have made with Beylin on the DC server?

Shouldn't affect your stats on the server, but any information loaded on your hard drive will be gone.

Check your connection speed. From what you said it sounds like a network problem, maybe the nic, router, modem, cable etc..

I don't think it's connection speed. Whenever we play a map that I already have I am usually the first one to zone in. I will however try playing without the router, and the play around with the firewall and see if that helps..

So, re-install did not work, and playing without a firewall didn't either.
When my wife is off her laptop tonight I will try taking out the router and plugging the cable right into the PC.
What is so odd, is that relogging clears it all up...so maybe I am getting packet loss that fogs up the RAM and prevents me from seeing certain visuals as the waves get more cluttered? The game is not laggy for me at all though.
My PC is pretty good, and no other games have ever given me a hassle before.
I also tried running in Open GL....and that just made the game look funky...some graphics were white and some shot animations were incomplete. The tweak guide stated that Gforce cards may run better in Open GL, and that doesn't seem to be the case for me.

So, after playing with the tweak guide, reinstalling the game, making sure my video card was up to snuff, overriding my direct draw, switching to Open GL, and playing direct from my cable modem instead of the router....I STILL have the same issues. There is nothing on the web no matter how hard I search with anyone that has ever had the same issues either.
I have awesome speed on the web, never had lag in World of Warcraft, and my downloads, movies, etc. play super fast.
I have no idea what do do next except log out and back in when necessary so I can have 100% game function. If anyone else has any ideas, let me know.

You know, I read a little about that and have no idea how to adjust that. Can you help me out...probably the only thing I didn't try.

I should clarify...I of course can get into my PC's Bios, but have no idea what to adjust, and to what speed. If I lower the bus speed, which is what I am guessing is what I have to do, won't my PC under perform when playing newer games, like The Witcher, etc? And how do I know how much lower to make the adjustment?

Oh,no, the thing is that if you are already overclocking your system, ut tends to not like that and does some really odd stuff. You should let the bios stay stock (do not lower). When you uninstalled, did you look for and delete any folders that may have been saved? I ask, because a copy of the ini may have hung around, or perhapse did you not delete all downloaded custome skins and maps? Some custome skins esp. can cause really odd and frustrating stuff and probably would not be deleted by the uninstaller.

Okay, cool. I am not over clocking, my PC is set to stock.
On my re-install I installed over the previous, so I guess I should have completely deleted and then installed. I will do that.
It's such a funny bug, and I have not seen it on any post on the net...and believe me I have searched high and low for anyone having the same issues.

Well, complete re-install, new patch (for win32, last time I did win64 by mistake, so I thought that may have been the issue) and well, same bugs, but maaaaaaybe slightly better.
Played a game all the way through and the weap animation was gone by wave 11 and the monsters were invisible by wave 15...8 people logged in.
The issue must be so subtle I would need someone very schooled to actually mess around with it.
No matter...it won't keep me from playing - and healing, I can still see the players.

Well, here give this a shot:
Download this: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745
and this http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_ut3_downloads.html

Read the readme/instructions on the driver cleaner program and uninstall and drive clean the nvidia driver. Re-install the new 169.23 driver (it is the one they put out to fix problems with UT3, so it doesn't have the whql yet.) and see if that helps at all.
