Hey all, I have some rather disappointing news about myself. As a result of my actions this past semester, I was academically dismissed from my college. Thought I'd let you all know, since I believe some of you care somewhat lol. Anyways, it may have been the wake up call I needed, as harsh it seems. And I have a plan, so now I'm on the right track.

Don't let it get you down. That actually happened to me once during college, but it can happen if you take too many classes and work at the same time. Can you still take a few classes till you get reinstated? What you should do is go talk with the dean of your college and tell him/her about a plan you have to use more time to study and you should basically live at your professor's offices. I was at mine everyday after classes for as long as I could and then I spent each night, when I had time, studying in the library where it was nice and quite. Even on weekends if necessary. It will seem like it makes college boring, but that's what it may take to get that degree. Again, don't let it get you down, you aren't the only person that it happens to.

Well, this past semester was my third straight semester on academic probation, so that is probably out of the question. Besides, I need to take this into my own hands now. I'm done letting others give me chances, now I'm taking them. I'm finally looking forward, and even though it has taken me a while, its what I needed.

Sheeesh, I was suspended for a full academic year for chasing ???? (ain't gonna tell ya) instead of hitting the books and lost a full-ride sports scholarship to boot. It won't be the end of the world, but it might be a little tougher.

Have you tried getting back in? Have you still been taking classes? When I was on probation, I was still able to take classes, just not as many units as normal. That actually was a good thing. When I first went to college, I was taking 14-16 units, all science based classes with labs. I was also working 32 hours per week. My advisor and the dean of the biology department were shocked at that. They even said that it was too much. After I got on probation and was taking fewer classes, it helped prioritize things a bit. It still buged me that it happened, but just don't let it get you down or make you feel bad about yourself.

Yup, sometimes we need that fabled "wakeup call" to snap out of it and make something out of ourselves - I had mine three decades ago.

Finally someone who understands what I'm saying. As for taking classes and such, right now, I need to make some money so I can pay for them, along with buying a car. After that, I'm gonna take courses to get my credits and gpa up, then go from there.

It's tough and it gets tougher... you gotta get up every day and take it one day at a time... and get up the next day and keep doing it. Also, you have to want to do it for yourself - having others (like a family) helps but it isn't enough motivation when it gets rough.
As I said, it can be a difficult struggle but after a while you can allow yourself to pause for a bit, look back and enjoy they fruits of your efforts. Keep at it and remember: get up every day to do it (amazing how that mindset can change your life)
