I have been looking around for a way to disable the half dozen or so commercials you are forced to watch on game launch, and so far the only thing I have been able to find is the UT3 Tweaker. However, the UT3 Tweaker also allows you to do some shady borderline cheating things such as center your fire and eliminate the blur screen when you are hit. So I have not installed the program. I went to the UT3 boards in hopes of finding an answer only to find that almost 2 days later I still am not allowed to post there. Anyone have any ideas how to disable the startup videos?

There is a setting in the ini that you change to false

I saw it in the UT forums a couple of weeks ago.

I found an ini that seemed to be the right one but there was no true/false, instead there was a header near the bottom of the UTEngine.ini that listed all the movie sequences. The first 7 I just changed the name to skippable movie and now I can left click through each of the videos on startup. I'll post a more detailed description if anyone needs it. I'm kind of surprised at the lack of participation in the DC UT3 server so far. I'm wondering if this is more an indicator of how many people don't have the game yet, the system to run the game, or a general discontent with the game. I've been playing it a lot lately and after the first couple of days and once the controls are configured, it really is a lot of fun.

Got on the DC server this morning after fixing my UT3 crash at boot issue. Nobody was on, but it was nice to see the game again. The demo worked with my 9800 Pro, but my new nvidia 7600 GT had issues. So far, I'm ready to rock on either game.

My current skin After several other skins, I have reverted back to Bender.

Okay folks, here is the definitive answer. The UT3 shortcut on your desktop is where you will make the change. Right click on the shortcut and left click on properties, the address should read:

"C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe"

You are going to edit it to read as follows:

"C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" - nomoviestartup

This will eliminate the startup movies entirely, you will just have the game launch picture and go right to the press any key scene, which does take a few seconds. Also, this disables the single player campaign movies so undo it if you are going to play the campaign.

I tried that as a troubleshooting thing for my issue to no avail, but if you just want the starting movies to go away and not all the cinimatic ones during gameplay, I coppied this from Ultron's Tweaks post on Epic forums

[FullScreenMovie]
;StartupMovies=Copyright_PC
;StartupMovies=EpicLogo
;StartupMovies=MidwayLogo
;StartupMovies=UE3_logo
;StartupMovies=Nvidia_PC
;StartupMovies=Intel_Duo_Logo
;StartupMovies=UT_loadmovie1

This last section eliminates the startup movies from the game. This eliminates about 10 seconds of movies that play in the beginning.

You can also do the same by adding -nomoviestartup to the end of your shortcut, like so:

"C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -nomoviestartup

Just keep in mind that is you use that command line arguement, you will not see _any_ movies played, including campaign ones, so I recommend the first option, just commenting out the specific movies with the ; character.
