DVD drive trouble

Just wondering if anyone can help me with this. For some reason, my DVD drive freezes when I put in certain games (Hellgate and Battlefield 2142 mostly) but all my other games run just fine in it. The disks aren't damaged, so what could be causing the trouble?

I'd have to say some of the disk's seem to last longer than others for some reason. It could just be your drive going bad, test the cd's in another computer/drive. I've had problems like this before, sometimes the cable's jiggle loose or something, try unplugging them and repugging them... also that canned duster stuff is your best friend!

Thanks DrkSlayer. I'll recheck the connections tonight when I get home. I'll have to buy some of the canned air stuff again, I used the last of it to clean out my keyboard.

Are the discs dual-layered? Maybe your drive doesn't like DL discs.

How can I tell if they're DL Echo? And if they are, then that could be it, but they've only recently stopped working. Hellgate worked for a few weeks before it quit, and BF 2142 has been over a few months and now it won't work either...

I don't know of any visual indicators, but DL discs have a capacity of about 8 gigs, versus the normal DVD disc capacity is about 4. Check in My Computer to see the difference and compare with other DVD's that are in working order.
