If you have problems with some skins not working

I use Skin City for all my skins.

I have found that some skins didn't show up in game and showed skin that came with ut2004. This is not because the skin doesn't work or you didn't put the files in the right place (though you may want to check files just to make sure

)

The reason that they didn't work is because the skin has a space in it. I know this sounds odd and I don't know why it happens but if you have say a skin called "mecha moon," for sailor moon mech style

it won't work because the name mecha*space*moon.

How do you fix this problem, you ask. Well, I am glad you asked.

Step 1: Open the .upl file for the skin (in this case it is "MechaMoon.upl")
Step 2: If error comes up "can not open this file" choose "select the program from a list" and choose Notepad
Step 3: Where it says DefaultName="blah blah", if there is a *space* between the blahs you delete the space and make it one word. You can add an underscore or I think a slash might work (though i am not sure). (In this case I changed DefaultName="Mecha Moon" to DefaultName="Mecha_Moon"). Make sure you save the file.
Step 4: Open UT2004 select the skin and start playing the game. If UT2004 was running in the background while you were making the change, close it and open it again.
Step 5: Press F4 to go into 3rd person mode and see if it worked (and it should) and press F4 again to go back to 1st person mode and enjoy.

If other people download "Mecha Moon" from Skin City will they be able to see the skin here without editing the file first? If not, may I suggest you put one more step in you guide to say

6. If you plan on using this skin on the DC sever then upload this skin to the DC server so everyone has the corrected file and can see you.
