Usually, I can do this kind of stuff just fine...but here is the rundown.

I play UT at work during lunch. Some time ago, IS installed a Gateway that monitors where people go (for blocking purposes. I cant go to any forums or anyplace that sells anything.) Ebay, YouTube and DC are all blocked, along with anyplace I can DL maps from. Along with this it has slowed down the port that UT uses to agonizing speeds (18BM map dowload takes roughly 30 mins). Someone during play (Mystic I believe) told me to Port Forward to a faster port. Well, here is what I have access to: My PC at work...and that's it. I cant access the routers, the server, nada. So, unless I can change the port in an .INI file the a client uses to go out, then I'm hosed...well, I think I am. Now, most UT servers use port 7777, 7877.7778...ok, now I'm just guessing...anyway, those are for a UT server, I can't find anything for client in the config files.

Any help is welcome. Thanks in advance....

IRRC one of the .ini files for ut specifies the ports used (still rebuilding my computer so I can't tell you for sure).

That being said I doubt using a different port is going to do anything for speed. Actually I'm surprised it isn't completely blocked since you cant get to the forums.

It looks like they are using some sort of traffic shaper (like a Packeteer for example) so switching ports won't help if they are just slowing down the type of traffic

the software I'm being blocked by is Trend Micro InterScan Gateway Security Appliance.

Regular internet port seems to be fairly regular....could be faster, but a 43MB movie trialer DLs a lot faster then a 13MB map.

Consider yourself lucky, where I live on university grounds they traffic shape EVERYTHING you do... not just games. I'm paying my school to be a second-rate citizen on their network
