It burned within about 1.5 miles. Ominous to say the least.

Glad to hear you made it through the fires. What part of SD do you live? I live in Eastlake, just west of Lower Otay Lake. Fire burned to the edge of the lake and went north (burned Mt. Miguel) and south of us toward the Donovan State Prison. Close call-----too close.

I live in LA, but my family lives in San Marcos near San Ellijo. My grandparents live right next to the Sweetwater Reservoir, they were evacuated. A few of my friends live near Rancho Santa Fe, they were evacuated too, but so far no one I know had their home burned. But it came very close to everyone.

Good to hear you were not affected by that one Echo. Did the fire do anything to places like the Wild Animal Park?

Yes, I think the condor habitat burnt down. They managed to evacuate all the animals so there were no fatalities, but I'm pretty sure one building is gone now.

That's sad. I really liked it too...Will they rebuild it? And did anyone else hear that the winner of the last NASCAR race is donating all his winnings to the fire victims?
