If I was a level 383 engineer, I'd have nothing left to buy.

I have too much time. I calculated the stat points needed for maxing every ability the engineer can buy, here are the results (if anyone is interested):

Stat Caps Costs
(Based on data from DC homepage):
Weapon speed: 50
Health: 100
Adrenaline: 150
Damage Bonus: 80
Damage Reduction: 50
Amo: 80
TOTAL: 510
73 levels

Class Independent Skills Costs
(Based on data from DC homepage):
Airmaster: 70
Awareness: 20
Cautiousness: 125
CounterShove: 75
Ghost: 85
Ironlegs: 70
Powerjump: 60
Quickfoot: 100
Retaliation: 325 (you loose 47 levels on this!)
Shields Up!: 110
Smart Healing: 90
Speed Switcher: 35
Ultima: 100
TOTAL: 1265
181 levels

Engineer Specific Skills Costs (Based on data from in-game menu):
Loaded Engineer: 150
Shield Regeneration: 60
Shield Healing: 45
Armor Regeneration: 125
Armor Vampirism: 325
Constructions: Health Bonus: 110
Engineer Awareness: 10
Vehicle Eject: 50
Stunt Vehicles: 30
TOTAL: 905
130 levels

TOTAL CUMULATIVE: 2680 (384 levels)

If I sum only the skills I find really cool (someone might choose other skills than me), I'd need 1275 points (183 levels).

There might be mistakes. :]

What was that wonko about mistakes....
Well...Actually thats still better than some of the other classes number wise..ie for adren masters they max out at 304 if im nto mistaken.....so that give the engis a another 83 lvls to work for

I think that it was intended that Awareness could only be bought by AMs and WMs, but it wasn't coded that way. Medics and Engineers have their own versions. I don't think you can buy level 2 awareness as an engineer.

So, how does this fit in against the other classes? On a different thread a while ago I posted the following:

Including abilities like Shields Up, Quickfoot and Smart Healing, but ignoring Iron Legs,Cautiousness, Retaliation, AirMaster, Countershove, Power Jump then the limits for buying useful stuff are:
Weapons Masters: level 258
Adrenaline Masters: level 194
Medic/Monster Masters: level 295 (of which about 86 are monsters)

Shields Up, Quickfoot and Smart Healing account for 43 levels, so without those as well it would be
Weapons Masters: level 215 (of which 46 levels are Vampire)
Adrenaline Masters: level 151
Medic/Monster Masters: level 252 (of which about 86 are monsters)

Engineers would fit in the two lists as levels as 284 and 241 based on your figures, which puts them with slightly less to buy than a medic.

Well thats perfect for the Advanced construction dam red....lol...

Actually yeah i think awareness can only be bought one lvl for non WMs and AMs ..not both lvls..

Ps Any thoughts on AMs getting a boost in skills?

I was suprised that engineer specific skills costs represent a minor share of the cost of all all skills, yet the gameplay is totaly different than that of weapons master (1800points/257lvls for all non eng stuff, 905points/130lvls for all eng stuff). So, roughly one third of skills makes the class unique. I believe that would be true for all classes...

Although if I'd look where my spent points went, I am sure I spent more on the engineer specific stuff than on other (unless for 1lvl of "Shields Up!" I bought nothing from "Class Independent skills" list).

I am sure there are more mistakes than just awareness in there. It was based on the info I could get and I would not rule out my mistakes either.

However for a quick comparison:
I am lvl 155 WM and the really neat stuff I am short of are:
-ultima (100)
-last lvl of vamp (55)
-2 last levels of regen (65)
- last level of resuply (30)
That means 36 more levels for me, so a 191 level WM. That is awfully close to my view of a very capable engineer (lvl 183). As an engineer I would stay away from stunt vehicles, armor vampirism and armor regen, 69 levels in there!

Armor vampire and regen are very useful if you plan to sit in vehicles or turrets.

Yes, I somehow don't get along with turrets/vehicles, but I like engineer class. Go figure.

Wait, you get xp for stunts?!

Well from what I experienced when I wrote that post was a small amount of xp ...and I just got a daredevil award...sooo..I figed it must of been that seeing I had no turret...(maybe I hurt something near by I didnt see...or maybe even telepathically?..I just saw xp go up and heard daredevil at the same time..)

I think you may but as I said: "Correct me if Im wrong"
Which I may very well be...(and there has been lots of changes since then )

I'll need to do more tests...but tis not much if anything..sorta like if you in raptor you get xp for Top Gun..or in tank xp for Eagle Eye....

The FAQ hasnt been updated in a while so hard to say...
But if anything its minute....the skill is mostly just for fun...and also very handy if you get your vehicle stuck, seeing there are no UT car-jacks to move them ....
