last night while in a link turret, I found myself spinning in circles so fast I could not see anything on the screen.
If the track rate of the turrets is modified by the number of things linking to it, I broke over the top of usefulness to the point of carnival ride
I have not been able to replicate the same circumstances. I think that there were 1 or 2 other turrets linking to me and maybe 2 to 4 other individuals in the chain.
unless this is on purpose, might want to set a max for the track rate.

just wondering
I noticed when my Medic links to a link turret
that is damaged my link uses ammo to repair as expected but,
if it has full armor i boost its power and loose no ammo
is this intended? as a non-eng can sit behind a link turret for a whole round boosting it (and loosing all xp that round, but hey wave 12 owns me )

I need to investigate what is happening here.
On a standard turret, if you link to it with a link, it uses ammo while you heal it, and then no ammo once it is at strength.
It is possible the link turret doesn't recognise the linkguns as things that can link to it. So, the link turret will not increase damage nor share xp, and will only use ammo from the links when it requires healing. This may be what is happening. I need to do some checks.
However, I have concerns about fixing this one. Link turrets are very strong anyway, and allow the Engineer to heal sentinels without leaving the turret.
To allow link guns to boost the damage whilst simultaneously healing the turret may be a step too far. Put a link turret next to a hiding spot, get 3 or 4 engineers linking to it and it would be very difficult to take out. Any damage would be almost instantly healed, and the link turret is doing somewhere between 5 and 7 times its normal damage - virtual instagib.
For that reason, Engineer link guns cannot heal the shield of another engineer if he has the link gun selected. Too exploitable.
Perhaps we need to remove the link turrets?

Hmmm... I *think* I have noticed that if you do a two-way alt-fire link, there is a point at which two engineers can heal each other's shields. I haven't figured out exactly what triggers it, but it happens fairly often. I'd be happy to help troubleshoot and document if necessary.

Yes, you are correct. If A links to B, and B links back to A, then A's shield will be healed. (The system detects when it gets back to A that it has to stop to avoid an infinite chain. So B doesn't actually link to A)
This I think is ok, and is quite helpful. I hadn't realised that A would get some of the xp as well though. I'll think about that.
What I don't want is A links to B, B fires at monsters getting a damage boost, B suffers damage, A's link heals B's shield, while B is still firing at monsters getting a damage boost.

Grizzled's original question was concerning the Merry-Go-Round that sometimes happens with the Link Turret. This has also happened to me. The turret will spin almost uncontrollably making aiming very difficult. I could exit and enter the turret and even heal it. From outside the turret the gunner's position seemed to be separated from the base.
I haven't experienced this since the ENG got nerfed. Apparently I need more levels of LE before I can summon a Link turret. (ZOGineer = LVL 50 with lvl 12 LE)
I hope this helps.

If that ever happened to me (the merry-go-round effect) I would have to clean up a mess since I suffer from motion sickness (although strangely enough, it doesn't manifest when I'm playing games because my peripheral vision tells me I'm not really moving)
