Is there a rule against playing on the same CD key as someone else at once?

My brother and I, who live in the same house, play off the same CD. We haven't been playing at the same time, however.

Would it be against the rules for both him and I to play at the same time here, using the same CD key, or does anyone mind? I don't want to have to hunt down another copy of this game if I don't have to. : )

Actually I don't think it would let you anyway (though , it is wrong in the first place to try imho), as you are id'ed by your cd key, so it would not let one of you play tagging you as a software pirate and maybe even global banning you until the company was contacted and your cd key reinstated.

Well the main reason I didn't really want to try is it could be considered pirating. While it technically isn't, I dunno exactly what you'd call it other than taking advantage of the system.

If I ever saw the game in a store I'd probably buy another copy for him to use, but it really isn't anywhere, and I can't order it online. (personal reasons, not that I can't find it)

do you have an EB games near by? If they dont have it in store, they can usually order it for you through them and pick it up in store.

That sounds like a good idea. I should probably call them and see if they'll order it. They didn't have it last I checked.

One more thing, if he starts playing on a new CD key he'll be marked impostor, right? Will the admins switch him over if I ask, or will he need to start a new character?

<edit> I just looked it up on their site, Unreal Anthology came out not too long ago, it is available in stores, it has this as a description

Yes, he will be imposter but i am sure if you email nicely and be patient the name can be changed some how.

Yea, the admins are usually nice about point resetting and stuff.

Yep, and I've been eyeballing the set..........

at Future Shop in Canada so don't know if that helps
