It seems to me that the recent updates in monsters and increase of difficulty have lowered the effectiveness of the medic summoned creatures. For me at least they are pretty much not worth summoning after the 5th wave at this point.
I have been hoping that there would be some balances to the changes that have occurred but it seems that most people like them.
I have a pretty large number of points that I have spent on summoning. Should I just ask for a point reset on my character?

My problem with any summoned pet, medic or not, is they just get in the way. I have died several times because they have blocked an escape route.

After looking at your stats, I would say you have a bit too little intelligence on your monters compared to Summons HP (Personally, I would not buy summons HP 2 until after Int is maxed, and with vamp flies around, I would not buy 3+ at all) . Having higher Int really does help their usefulness, and its not that expensive.
Anyway, your issue *may* just be a psychological one, rather than a practical one. Try glancing at your Exp bar whenever you are standing around healing yourself. It will get you an idea of how much Exp your summons are netting you. I found the result to be slightly less 1 XP per second or so when my Skaarj Troopers are hittng something. But when you consider that you don't have to do anything except have your dudes summoned to get that XP, the prospect looks pretty good.
But, I am not the guru of summons. If you could get a hold of Onimusha or Caz 2.0, ask them.
EDIT: Vamp Flies are much more managable now with the new patch, so summons health is now somewhat more viable. I would still max Int first though.

Tried that... the clone gnats attack you instead, just like child gasbags and child pupaes. (Yes, I uncached and played it on instant action).

I agree with you. It looks like I have fairly well mis-spent my points on this character for the current game environment.
It used to be effective, but they don't seem to live very long in the current game configuration. There was a time when I could count on a minimum of 800 exp on just about any map and with the right combination of summons and play I could hit 2000 exp if we managed to finish the map.
I kind of feel that if I had spent my points on drip and adrenaline, I would be better off right now, especially with the new healing artifacts.

I have liked the lesser gas bags in the past because they typically don't block people.

medics that don't keep track of their summons, don't deserve them. I have been killed enough times when a monster that was not even attacking or was doing the elevator ride thing got in "my way". it is just very annoying. so, I try my best to keep track of my summons, if they are not doing their job, I un-summon them and make another.

Actually, if you have max regeneration, DR and health bonus (for yourself), pets are hard to die except they face a titan, queen, or after wave 13. You just need to heal them after each wave, when they follow you.
No doubt, they must all die at titan's waves and wave 16. At Titan's waves, you can consider to use berserk instead of summon monsters. At wave 16, you should ignore to summon monsters and concentrate to heal players since more players at wave 16, you have more chance to finish the map. Just think about this: keep a low level player survive at wave 16 can help all players to survive longer, because they lower the level of all monsters.
I still don't have monster health bonus at my level, because whatever my pet face a titan or queen, they must die even I have max monster health bonus. IMO, it's not worth it, so add points on monster int and adrenal drip are the priority for a MM.
With a level 7 monster int MM, you can maximize your medic ability: a lvl 0 int pupe (the bug?) is a pain for everyone since it stuck on the elevator and do nothing; but a lvl 7 int skaarj sniper is an ace killer, it can even kill a small bug at the far sky with a 90% accuracy.
