I can see that the DC server sets the maximum number of artifacts that are allowed to be picked up is three. However, I've noticed this for some time and I am pretty sure others have also, that there is a way by picking up more than three artifacts, and I dont think I should tell how to do it. I am not sure if this is a bug or anything, but I think it is a disadvantage to the LA players.

We're well aware of how you do it - you wait until the artifact is about to disappear and then you can pick it up. You can also get an artifact that's moving through the air, not yet on the ground.

It's no biggie for AMs - they start with pretty much all but one artifact. It's not a major deal for WMs - they don't have any artifacts by default, and if they keep track of what they have, there's probably only three artifacts that they'd want to keep anyway. It is a pain for M/MMs - they can start with a bunch of M/MM specific artifacts and not be able to pick up dropped artifacts, which they should probably have access to.

Dru mentioned that he was thinking, once the "Pinata" effect was dealt with (which it was - mostly - some time ago ... it still occurs for AMs if you quit out of the game or so I think I've witnessed) of removing the 3 artifact limit since there would be fewer artifacts in the game. However, he hasn't yet changed that, obviously, and I think most of us feel that there is some deserved risk for the greedy when they hover over an artifact as a target for monsters.

This bug is probably in core code (like the engine) and not easily fixed, if it is in any way fixable.
