Being that the nature of the game is to run around and shoot things, I don't think it'd be a good idea to limit medic players to being "the guy behind the guy," healing everyone and not attacking or getting in on that fun. Granted there's an argument to be made that some players only don the medic hat to keep themselves alive, but I don't think that should hold the rest of the class back unless it's a widespread problem.
I think the medic weapon sounds like a cool idea, but after reading through the thread so far, I have a question: would this weapon's introduction cripple our ability to use other weapons as infini medic + attacking weapons?
Here's an idea though: instead of a medic weapon, how about a medic pet/bot? Maybe only medics could summon it (or maybe not), but *that* could be a dedicated character, sitting behind the lines and running around to heal others with its own pretty blue Link-alt-fire-like gun.

I think the new medic artifacts pretty much "seal the deal" on the current medic weapon system. Granted, they do need to be toned down a little, but I can see a new medic weapon as a little unnecessary to an already well equipped class. As an abstract idea, the medic gun does sound cool, but for our current needs, we have all that we need.

Changing the Exp given for healing would alter the balance of game-play, in my opinion, in a unhelpful way.
Well, when you change the gameplay, it requires rebalancing, yes?

I'm not clear on what the point of this weapon is. Eliminate medics ability to kill monsters quickly? I agree that medics focus should be healing, but I disagree with forcing people to choose only healing.

I didn't say you couldn't shoot stuff with a Rocket Launcher or Flak Cannon, I only said that they shouldn't be enhanced (aside from standard magic weapon chance, of course).

You just said increasing the EXP would ruin the balance.

That is an entirely valid point, but mutators are called mutators for just that reason; they change things. It could change Unreal Tournament from a totally Run and Gun game to one involving real teamwork and strategy.

I restate that having a guaranteed Infinite weapon is something other classes would kill for, even in exchange their ability to guaranteed have any magic randomly chosen, and especially for only 10 Adrenaline. I restate that you *can* kill monsters with normal weapons. I restate that the handicap this presents to the Medic is only a handicap when in comparison to other classes. I restate that such a 'handicap' is deserving of the Medic, being a non-combat class. I never said they never fought! I said they weren't *designed* to fight.

One guy even had the idea to make an 'RPG System' for Unreal Tournament. Now that was abstract. We don't need it at the present though. My point is that we don't 'need' any of this. We just do it because it is fun for us and fun for those who use it, not that anyone needs it. I do hear you, though. By the way, I didn't know there were new Medic artifacts .
