I'd have to recommend both those movies as great horror films that'll give you nightmares.
All other movies mentioned here I'd give them "eh" at best.
One that particularly stood out as "eh" was Ju-On, it was too cryptic for me. Maybe I'm slow but it's flashbacks weren't obvious to me and I became confused at what was happening. I watched The Grudge (the english version of Ju-on) in hopes it corrected this but it was just an exact rip-off of Ju-on.
One movie I'd like to add to this thread is Ichi the Killer. It's more a slasher movie than scary, but it's good all the same.

I was surprised more people hadn't mentioned The Exorcist too. I really liked that film--I thought it was really creepy.
I respect The Ring, but it didn't click with me for some reason. I haven't seen the Ring 2, but my brother said it was awful; he's pretty open-minded about movies, too.
I saw Diabolique the other day, and loved it. Anyone who's a Hitchcock fan and hasn't seen it probably would love it. Very interesting twists, and suspenseful and creepy.

Oooo, that's something else. Rear Window! It didn't scare me, but I loved it!

The only Hitchcock movie I've seen was Rear Window..I didn't like it at all. The only part I thought was funny was where they were in the dark and the guy was protecting himself with the flash bulbs...I was laughing so hard at that part! But as for the rest of the movie....

Nightmare on elm street is one of my all time favs. Scared the crap out of me when I was little. Lately there hasnt been a movie that has scared me. Although Event Horizon was pretty creepy.
Some of my other pics:
The Shining
Halloween
House of 1000 corpes
Saw (more thriller than horror)
And just about any horror movie from the 80's

I was semi enthusiastic about the concept and story of blair witch.
But then I got about 5 minutes into the film and proceeded to learn what "filmed in nausea-vision" means. And the whole thing with them claiming it was real .. no way, scared people in real life dont keep cameras rolling and pointed in the right direction the whole time.
The movie basically sucks. Never bothered with the sequel.
Now the new remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre was decent. And thats based on a true story. Adds a little creepiness to it.

I thought Blair Witch was pretty good mostly because of the uniqueness of the filming and real feel it had to it. Unfortunately the shaky vision thing caught on and now every show made these days seems shot by a handheld camera. Wish they would bring back the steady cam, although some shows do it well like The Shield.

Creepyist part about that whole flick where 2 scenes. One, when they found the bundle of sticks wrapped with his shirt and his eye balls in there. Second, at the end when the other guy was just standing in the corner waiting to die.

I think thats because it was a few sequels later. I havent seen the original film but I heard it was good in its day. The Next Generation is like thet 4th sequel or something like that.
