It's spring. The world is anew. We shed the white blanket of winter and expose the green grass and leaves, and welcome back the migratory song birds.
Ok, enough foo-foo talk. I'm just glad I woke up my sleeping beauty of a bike and got to ride it after work. Took 45 minutes of prep work and to quickly charge the battery but it was shweeeeet to hear the rumble of my pipes again.
Happy spring, everyone!

Yay for spring! Welcome to good hiking and biking weather as well as stuffy noses, red, watery eyes and a small amount of wheezing.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO what a ride!"

Spring - beautiful, except that it means tornado season around here. If there is one thing that would prompt me to relocate, it would be that: tornadoes. I've been here for over twenty years and I'm used to it, but when you have a family to worry about things change.
Otherwise, spring is nice - I wish we had a longer winter (or a true winter) so allergies didn't kick in so hard around here... wait, do I really like spring???

ebike? LOL
No, it's quite real. Rode it to work today. Wisconsin. in march (unbelieveable) , it's supposed to be 74 today. Been riding since thursday and it's been awsome. It was 63 this morning after some t-storms rolled thru last night. Record high today is expected. This is probably the earliest I've been on the bike in a season here in Wi. There is still snow in some spots....but I'm not complaining. Bring on the warm stuff!

OK... where you at Spike? Being a NWS spotter, I might find things a bit more interesting than here in central Ohio. HEHE. One of the many many reasons I would have welcomed relocating to SW MO, besides being closer to my very bestest friend.

This weekend was wonderful. We officially saw 78 here yesterday, when our normal high is 55. And our low was only 55, when the normal is 35. So we are running anywhere from 20-23degF warmer this year for yesterday. Indeed, the temps have been running this warm since late last week, and it is late this week before they are talking about highs in the 60's (high 60's at that). Yesterday, I took advantage of the weather and lack of rain and after stopping by roll: to go riding. I stopped by there to pick up a jersey and biking pants... we were up in the area to see about me some sandals, and I had been meaning to get into there anyways (and being 30+ min drive away, it is good to combine trips to there). Yesterday's ride was wonderful, even if I am hurting from doing 12.6mi on the first ride of the season. Should last a day or so, and I plan on riding again either tomorrow or Wednesday if it does not rain.
BTW... For those of you who like riding bicycles, here is a page which shows the ride Avis and I took. We started out at Tuttle Park and headed north until we reached Antrim park. I just wish the would fix the bridge where we cross the river at Henderson Rd. (a 4" drop at the end of the walk which cyclists share with pedestrians made it feel like I had a knife shoved between my vertibrae), and either do something about some of the streets in the area around North Broadway, or put in a dedicated path like most of the rest of the trail. But well worth it, even if I also add in the water/mud in a few spots.
The page you want to look at is:
http://www.jnybny.com/Olentangy%20Cover.htm
If you like that, here is the main page for that site, which talks about the other trails in the area...
http://www.jnybny.com/OverviewFm.htm
And you might be thinking... is he a serious bicyclist? I am... and after 20 years, I finally have a great bicycle again... custom fit (by roll:, they use a computerized laser measuring system to determine how to fit your bike to you), light road racing bike (composite frame, the whole 9 yards). It was not cheap... but it was worth it. Much better than the racing bike I had in my teens and 20's which cost me over a grand, though this one has cost me much much more, esp. when you add in the bike computer/GPS unit I have, and all the other goodies. I don't know if I am up to it, but I am looking at doing an event called TOSRV this year... last time I did it I was like 20 and was riding 100+ miles per day several days a week (and thought nothing of doing the full round trip in a single day that time). But now I am older, and much less bolder. Maybe this year, maybe not... got a few possible rides to see if I am up to it.

Ahhh. Battery on that kind of bike. I was thinking pedal-assisted pedaling kind of bike.

Sorry Spacey - I am in Oklahoma City.
Speaking of tornadoes, I was in Austin while a tornado was visible from my house this week. I hate that - couldn't concentrate much on what we were supposed to be doing

I know how that goes... When there were tornadoes or other severe weather affecting SW MO (specifically Dallas Co/Buffalo MO, where Spammy lived), I was always about as comfortable as a cat in a rocking chair factory. It was not any better when they got clobbered by the ice storm after I knew she had been killed... She was so close a friend, I still find myself worrying about her kids. But now, finding out how they are doing is nearly impossible. SIGH.
As for the tornado in OKC... Ouch. I had seen that and was worried about some folks I know live down in that area. Looks like this spring and early summer may be making up for past years.

Agreed - the past two years have been rather tame around the metro... until last week

I envy you all this year. we still have snow berms 7 feet high around all of the roads. the roads that are clear are covered with a spray of loose gravel. It is a little too dangerous to ride here as of yet. Motorcycle or bicycle. I am working on my motorcycle this morning so that it is ready for a little warmer weather when I get back from vacation in May.
I like your description of the weather Spacey, I have not seen lightning or a tornado in nearly 15 years....you see, I was born in St. Louis county and grew up in Wayne county. I have not seen a non-Alaskan spring in some time.
I can't wait for spring/summer. warm air. green things. fishing, hiking, motorbike riding. The sun, being in the sky for 20 hours at a time and boating just to be out on the water.
I can't wait, but will have to, at least until May!

Dont feel bad. It was just a tease for 4 days or so. Then we got rain, now snow and wind, all coming from 'up nort' (as they say it around here) and will be 17 at night and in the 30s for a high for a while. So we got a taste of it, now back to miserable reality. Maybe next week we can get back on track, but they put salt down again yesterday, so now I gotta wait for more rain to wash it off before it's safe for my bike...
