I'm looking for more power as I'm sure most of us are. Well I'm not quite sure what my puters got now by the power supply is from it's original. My computer is a dell Dimension 4600. Hopefully some of you know what the power supply is for it. I'm hoping to grab something in the 550 to 600 watts of power. I just grabbed a new Vid card. (it's a 7800GS) So I'm upgrading away. Any other suggestions are helpful. That go well with my system.
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz, 2.79 GHz, 1.25 GB of Ram. Has Microsoft windows XP.

Stock power supply in Dimension 4600 is 250 watt...fine if you have an unmodded system, nowhere near enough if you're going to start doing anything with it.
Here's the Dell page selling official replacements.
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&category_id=6731&mfgpid=163008&rpu=1&~ck=anav
Do you have SATA hard drives? If so, this one would work (quick search on Newegg, by no means a firm recommendation):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817148008
With the Dimension 4200 box as a starting point, I'd go so far to say that if you ever need more than 520W out of a PS, it's time for a new computer...probably a custom built one. Really, anything over 550 is for servers and enthusiasts.

Fire, I agree with Moof. Since the stock power supply is so small and your pc is intended mainly for office usage and not for gaming, I would get it up to speed in terms of OEM and use it as a backup. I think you might be better off by building a custom pc for gaming. I know, money.....do what I'm doing. Buying the parts as I can afford them.

Thanks for the Suggestions so far. My plan is to slowly build up the dell even if it means losing the Warranty. So I'm upgrading slowly but steadily if that's possible. Till then Again thanks.

I've had good luck with rosewill and thermaltake. Rosewill generally cheaper, but thermaltake is better performance wise.

Can you even fit a standard ATX PSU in a Dell 4600 case? As far as i know, pre-builts like Dell and HP use proprietary PSUs to go with their proprietary cases. If this is the case with the 4600 and you cant get a replacement from Dell that's anything bigger than 250W, then yes, your best option is a new system, a custom build if possible.

It depends on the model. I would guess that the Dimension line probably accepts standard PSUs, but you're right when it comes to the desktop and small form factor Optiplexes.
