Transferring over UT to my laptop

I have a small question about getting UT to run like it does on my PC. I've installed it, added my old user.ini to keep my settings. Then I installed patch 3355, then the ECE Bonus pack 1, then patch 3369. Next I installed both Community packs. My question is kind of minor, but my text to speech is not like it was on my desktop. This time it's a female rather than the male voice that is on my other computer. I'm wondering what I may have downloaded or what setting I may have changed in that the male text to speech voice was used. I know it's a bit odd, but this version doesn't say some words right, like Hola... so does anyone have any idea of what is different?

Did you check your speech setting in the player section? Also check your settings in the audio announcer as well

well, i was using the ut2003 announcer, so I tried switching that with no success. As for the player voice I'm using the male mercenary. I can't seem to find anything in the settings that would change the text to speech voice though... hmm this is odd.

Unreal text-to-speech goes off of whatever voice I have set in the speech settings for my computer. Maybe you should check the control panel?

Just for the heck of it, I would try and go to the speech settings on the Windows control panel. There is a speech icon. After you double click that, you will see a new window pop up. On the top of this new window, you will see a tab for 'text to speech'. You can choose difference voices to use. I could be wrong, but I thought UT uses the windws text to speech.

Wow that's interesting I didn't known that windows had a text to speech option. Well the good news is that I believe this is it, since it's checked as using "Microsoft Anna" however the minor bad news is that I'm running Vista, and it doesn't seem to want to allow me to change the setting. There are two other options, but it won't let me use them for some reason. I may have to sit down and tinker with some options a little later. Thanks guys!

Echo's right--didn't even think about that.

yup that's definately where that voice is coming from, but for some reason it's having a problem with my audio output device so it won't let me go to "microsoft mike." It may just be a Vista issue, but I think I may have to suffer with "anna" for a little bit longer

That definitly is suffering, I was stuck with her voice for a few weeks about a month ago until we figured out where it was coming from! Good luck changing it.

Hey Pyra any update to this? I'm having the same problem.. though I don't have any other voices to choose from besdies Anna. I'm on vista ultimate 64... found some speech pack downloads but they don't show up after install. heh, they say the new anna is the most realistic sounding one yet.. she brings a new found fear to me. I want mary back!

Lol, I totally agree with the fear Anna brings! Sad to say that I have not found a solution yet, I played around with voice packs as well, but ended up with the same outcome you're having. I hope they bring back Mary eventually, I think Anna is a huge step behind.

I got rid of the Anna on mine and got Mary back, and still have to suffer with HER voice because of his system
