I am moving in a few days and I'm wondering if I will have any problems with my characters when I get on the server from a different IP. I'm not certain how it works. If anyone knows what I may need to do to maintain my characters after the move I would certainly appreciate your input/suggestions.

From my own knowledge the Rpg stats doesnt change if your IP adress is not the same.

The Rpg stats of your characters get affected if you change your Cd Key

You should be fine if you make sure to use your name exactly as you have been. (the stats are based on your char name and your cd hash, so you should be fine.)

Yea, one thing most folks don't realize is that even with the constant connection, many ISPs force a IP address change on you every week or so, unless you have paid for a SOHO account with static IPs. This is a trick they use to make it much more difficult for you to run a service on your machine. With a little bit of knowledge, there are of course tricks to get around this, but many ISPs do not take kindly to this. The reason is that there are limitations on how much data can go in both directions, and they bias things to maximize for downloads (which is why you see things like 6000/768 for DSL or cable connections). And when you run a service on your machine, it produces bottlenecks in their network by throwing off their assumptions in their calculations, and is why in the ToS agreement, they will often state that running a service on your machine is grounds for termination.

And so, if anyone were... um-hum... stupid enough to code in the IP address, odds are there would be folks who would have problems in short order. It is also why banning someone by their IP address is the least effective way to do a ban. Their address might change to some other address in the same block of 256 addresses, and pretty soon, they are back into your system.

Oh, the things you learn when working for companies like CompuServe and Bell Labs.
