I totally agree Acyd... most of the time on this server only 1 admin moderates nowadays and that would be Demon. Also much appreciated demon, but 1 admin can only do so much, there should be more admins available. The previous admins that use to play no longer do, and there is quite a handful of them. I think players that play on most of the time that have a good reputation should be promoted to admins, in order to keep a good family fun server. As for example Acyd who has actually cared as much to make a topic on it. Or other contributors who would be a great asset to this server. Perhaps Demon, you as an admin can notify the owners for new recruits?

I haven't been on much until very recently, and I admit I have seen a bit more questionable behavior. Having said that, though, I feel that most of the time other users try to warn players and police as best they can.
I try my best to do what I can, but I'm not a mod and cannot remove players myself. As has been said, the kick vote doesn't always work and isn't necessarily the best course of action - especially for repeat offenders, who should be reported and left for the admins/Dru/Shan to deal with.
The players with rude/bad behavior are still a small minority on this server. As with many games, players' interest comes and goes. Sometimes we get waves of people who behave poorly. Those people tend not to last long here, and with good reason.
The best way to cure that behavior is to set a good example, warn players, and report those who refuse to abide by the server rules.

Is that thread not valid anymore? I would think it should. I've seen people that have been on the server for a week tell someone off for a whole game about a acronym that was used for a word that I was pretty sure was allowed in the first place.
I'm pretty sure what I agreed to when I joined the server said nothing about promising to enforce the rules. I do not even agree with all the rules, however I have agreed to follow them, but I do not want to enforce them.
I've even had established players destroy all of my blocks that made my base (I guess they thought I put my base at a bad spot for them).
So I almost always will not kick vote someone unless it seems like they are actively trying to ruin it for everyone on the server on purpose.
A lot of the people that do strange things are often new and I don't think they know that what they are doing causes grief for someone. Yep, this means it happens more often than you'd like since there is often a new person on.

If the need for new moderators is suggested, I would be happy to be one of those to volunteer for the role. At the moment it looks as though things will be kept the same, but if there are continous disruptions from certain players that are getting ignored, I think admins/moderators should start to be selected.

Hmmm, sounds good..........once you own your server.

Admins are not chosen based on popular vote or how much time they spend on the server.

I'm on quit frequently and have witnessed much of what Acyd is speaking of. I have also heard several regulars call for a kick vote on someone and while the regulars will follow up and hit the kick vote button. Ultimately there not enough votes placed to complete the kick.
Possible solutions:
Lower the percentage requirements for a kick vote to take place.
Establish a moderator system from the current higher level player that would like to take on the duties. A moderator should not be able to ban, just kick for the current game. If the offending party keeps returning and causing problem the mod can report to the admins for a perm ban.
I personally would be up to take one of these positions even though I've never been moderator on any site.

Is there a way to set up an auto kick for a player that reaches a negative score of lets say 50 or so? This would help remove AFK players that can't stay alive long enough for the idle auto kick.

In the last 2 months, I have 21 logged instances of players scoring -50 or less. Only 2 players have done it twice. No-one has done it 3 times.
So it might not be a big enough problem to merit specific code. If we get a player getting lots of below -50 scores, I could forward the information to the admins so they can decide what action is appropriate, if required.

I start ringing a player's bell once I see the score at -30 and if they ignore me, they get booted.

Wow really like this idea, this could fix the problem with an admin not always being present when needed.

"Only a few find the way, some don't recognise it when they do, some don't ever want to."
Cheshire, The Cat
Alice and the Hatter: Quotes: Alice in Wonderland
Alice: What a funny watch! It tells the day of the month, and it doesn't tell what o'clock it is!
The Hatter: Why should it? Does your watch tell you what year it is?
Alice: Of course not, but that's because it stays the same year for such a long time together.
The Hatter: …which is just the case with mine.
