Rapid Build reduces the timer. It does not increase the vehicle-healing strength of the link beam.

As already stated in other threads, I cannot see the Engineer Link shaft being extended unless it's power is dropped.

hmmm then rapid build would solve most of the problem with building those sentinels and turrets faster... we can only wait now for druid to approve

Isn't the reason behind the engineer link gun being so powerful because its damage was increased generally to heal faster?

Is it possible to have the engineer link gun do more damage (which is then converted to health during linking) while linked rather than remain like that all the time. I'm sure that it would just change the damage while linking then restore it to defaults when disconnected. Although I've never looked at the code for linking, it seems do-able.

Initially I made the link beam more powerful so it would heal faster. In retrospect, I should have just made it affect vehicles more, with the VehicleDamageScaling.

Now that Engineers have had the powerful link beam for a while, they do not want to go back to a standard link beam. From feedback on other threads, they would feel nerfed if the beam did not do as much damage. Of course they also want the beam longer, so they can hide better whilst linking something.

When linking, the damage gets set to zero. The linking code is quite complex, and probably best left alone.

With that being said Szlat, would lowering the damage of the engineer link gun and increase VehicleDamageScaling allow it to heal faster while maintaining normal damage outside of linking?

yeah i agree with szlat, no change to link beam please! But i still think it would be cool if you could choose between say a link gun with lower damage but better vehicle healing and one that was not so good at vehicle healing but had a longer, stronger beam. might encourage some engineer to try for a more offensive role?
