Rater: I have it on pretty good authority that there is no such thing as "kill stealing". I love the ROD, triple added is like chocolate on ice cream
The only gripe I have ever had about other players is when they jump right in front of me when I am about to unload on a monster, but I know that I need to be more careful with splash weapons, thats what radar is for, to know where players or monsters are! So its more like a frustration with myself.
I like the way the server plays.
I like the community that I play with!

Try that with a force 5 Deemer on Hall of Anubis. I killed 5 people + myself.

Instead of adding another thread, I will just put this in here.
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT/GAME IN DC/UT!
i.e. Launching off of a lift using a double jump, sidways, and getting a head shot on a nali in mid air with a sniper without the scope...
No that hasnt happened to me, but I did nail him with a flak ball...
But that's not my most memorable moment. I have 2.
The other day I got a HOLY S*** kill with one deemer shot out the door in a room full of warlards. Just popped in the doorway, launched and ducked out of the way of the blast back inside (usually get denied in a situation such as this). The announcer just kept studdering up the award ladder to the end.
A while ago, I killed some monster with my flak (what else) as I reached the GODLIKE award, at the same time, I leveled. The visual of the words at the bottom of the screen with the nice shower of golden energy which surrounds us when we level was quite the sight. I only wish I had a 3rd person screen shot of it. I only have one of me when I leveled when the game was over. I think I will "doctor" it up.

I have this image in my head of a nali flying up in the air.
It was one of those castle type maps - someone blew a deemer on the other side of this wall and all I saw was this nali flying up into the air from the other side. I really wish I had had the presence of mind to take a screen shot, cause it was the funniest thing I had ever seen, aside from the 4/1 12/25 stuff.
Then there's guiding a deemer along and having someone jump randomly up for no reason while my deemer is passing overhead ...

The thing that strikes me first as the most memorable moment was the first time that I got a wicked sick. I was playing my medic on tundra with just a few bots. When the announcer came on withe the award I was so surprised and delighted that I almost died. I managed to pull it out and finish the map. that was also the first time that I know that I finished a map without one of the high level players.
More recently with my new adrenal master I somehow finished a map. I had already ghosted once and and was looking for health while transporting around avoiding queens. I flipped on my rod knowing that I was going to die any second and I remember thinking maybe I could find grendel and he would heal me. I ran into a huge wad of warlords that were stuck in part of the map and I heard a queen transported right behind me. I fired my transporter high over the group of warlords as they began to fire at me and fired a spray of flack balls into the group. At this point I heard grendel say "all you" the announcer came on and said "double kill" at this point the Rod lashed out and the announcer just kept rolling up the kill sprees, I transported fired a couple more times and the map ended with the cry of dying warlords. I looked down at my health and it was 4 and counting up. I would not have survived if not for the adjustments given to the new players. the character level twenty something. I have never had a group of (even just a few) players cheering me on like that.

Well Ratar..buddy!
I know that you have saved "The Raptor" time and time again with your overall play. Since our scores are usually very close and our level are close, seems to me the game play on the server is well balanced. The stacking does not seem to make the scoring unbalanced.
As for stealing kills ...... just try it...... >:/. Your lighting rod help me see where the next monster is to shoot at....
For myself, I do try and watch the lower level players, not only to help kill monsters attacking them but to also step in front of any incoming fire.
Best moment - Ratar running up and stopping right in front of me... then switchs to his deamer (playing deamer tag btw) which he then tries to explain, I say tries to explain because he laughing so hard he can not talk......"ITS....HEALING"...... Bang!!!!!!!!

Oh, this is most frustrating.....
Played at lunch today and we had a bunch of low levels on and myself, playing cola wars. I was 60 points away from beating my all time high score and then..........lunch ended. AAARRGH!
I may have beaten it if I didnt die on wave 14, which I had to leave in the latter half of due to my time restriction. I got greedy and did an oops...oh well.

Just curious about other peoples response to this post from the development forum.

It's great for kill thieving, to be honest - if you can aim it, and people have been pounding on it, you get a likely insta-kill (even through queen shields) and most likely a low cost in adren.
This evening on wave 14, I actually had someone following me around. As soon as the Awareness bar turned red on my screen, the Titan suddenly got hit by a bolt and gibbed.
I never saw who it was, but it happened 4x until I went to another room. Not only did the AM get the 66 points for it, but judging from comments made by other AMs, likely gained adrenaline on the deal as well, intentionally robbing me completely of both.
I know that we have no official kill stealing policy, but this is not behavior we should be condoning via artifacts.
If your awareness bar turned red, blowing a kiss at it would kill it. Someone could have been sniping with a plain ol lightning and just scaning for red bars. I would not just assume it was a AM or the bolt or beam.
Isnt the point of awareness to be able to see which monsters are close to death? And awareness lvl 2 to be seen from a greater distance?
Perhaps it's awareness that promotes kill stealing and not atrifacts?
Opps did someone say "kill stealing" there is no "kill stealing" on this server.
P.S. Moof, no offense to your post intended, just pointing out the awareness thing. And I would like to add that I hope no one was tailing you to steal kills from you or anyone. This is definatly not game play that should be tolerated.

I actually had a player, who shall remain nameless, get upset with me over voice chat because I walked into the room and took "his" kill. People "steal" kills from me, I "steal" kills from others. It. Happens. (which in hindsight, is actually a violation of rule 9: no crybabies. We'll see if it happens again.)
But the behavior Moof described sounds more like cheating to me. Definition of cheating: act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage. A player who deliberately hawks another for their kills? Sounds like a match.
Ps. You don't even need awareness to see if a monster is about to die. Just look at your radar. I use it all the time as a medic. I'd rather be dealing with one titan than two at the same time.

The idea of hitting a titan with a mini or flak until it gets to the red, then beaming it just before it throws is quite a reasonable tactic. So if a player does that, fine. Especially if the player is all by themselves.
But it gets a lot more complex with team play. If you were a relative low level with a LG and awareness, it would sort of make sense to stand back and snipe, rather than trying to melee the titans. So, which titans would you aim for? The red ones.
And if you didn't shoot the red one, and the red one then killed someone, would they thank you for it?
Using the beam rather than a LG doesn't affect things really. As Ratar says, it is an awareness thing rather than a LG/Beam thing.
The concept that "I have done most of the damage to this monster so the kill ought to be mine" is one that Dru has specifically ruled out.
However, it ought to be give and take. Sometimes you take someone else's kill, sometimes they take yours. If you are just trying to wipe out the monsters, that will happen - as everyone should aim for a red titan.
Someone who is deliberately letting other people take the risks, and then just taking the kill - either for the score or the adrenaline - isn't really being a team player. They are playing with the attitude that their need for score or adrenaline is more important than other people's.
And I understand that leaves an unpleasant taste in the mouth. However, I don't think we can ban such behavior.
There is the other side to it though. The other day I was on as a level 10 character, and for a long time I was hitting monsters with freezing/poison weapons from a distance - making it easier for the "melee" fighters to get their kills. So stand back snipers are not always bad.

It almost certainly is me that's doing it. I'd apologize except that it probably won't stop until there's a change - it's hard to resist using something that instakills monsters and costs effectively no adren.
It's been my assertion for some time that the Beam is over powered. I'm not so sure Surge needs to be taken out of the equation for adren usage, but I'd say any Leech adren should be. Either that or base the calculations for adren usage on the MaxHealth of the monster rather than current.
I still say if I stopped at making a decent flak and just used the Beam, I'd be better off than attempting to make a vorp for 5 or so waves.
I understand Szlat will be implementing a 10 adren penalty for missed Beams - that will help a bit I'd guess, but not totally ...
