Hey, I need a new car toooooo! Mine is on its last legs. Cost more to fix than it's worth. Just glad winter is over and I can ride the bike till I figure out what to do with it. Cant afford payments on a new(er) car.

Get the NASCAR edition, with the Taz on it.

My current skin After several other skins, I have reverted back to Bender.

Sounds like my first car, an '89 camry. The power steering pump went after owning it for a year. It cost a little over what the car was worth. Fortunately when it came time to sell it, I was able to sell for it for the amount I originally spent, so it wasn't a complete loss.

True, but you don't necessarily have to go to the nearest gas station... haha

""chuckle"" I would not put it past her to monitor the mileage too!!!!!!!!!! However, she did let me drive it today. Remember, when momma's happy, everyone's happy.................

Yes, all too familiar with that. My mom recently bought a Camry Hybrid. At the time we were looking, the salesman showed us a top-of-the-line V6 version. He told us the Hybrid with all available options looked identical to the V6. She really liked the nice looking blond wood on the V6, but unbeknownst to the salesman the Hybrid version does not include wood. She still bought the car, but was mourning for weeks about the loss of her wood interior. And naturally we were notified about the absence of wood every time we got in the car.

Who cares about the wood, it's a hybrid!! How is that car? I would love to get a Prius, but I can't afford any of those cars.

Well actually she cares about the wood. Her last car had it. And plus she's an interior designer. So...

It's actually a really cool car. Depending on the driving conditions, I can usually get it up to 25MPH on pure electricity. It's fun to freak out the neighbors while driving by silently
Though the mileage is definitely not what Toyota expects you to get out of it. The Camry is rated for 40/38, but it gets something more like 35/37. Still pretty darn good for a mid-size sedan.

You ever read anything on 'Pulse and Glide'? It is something I've read that hybrid owners will sometimes do to get extra mileage out of their cars. One of these days, I'm going to get a hybrid. My car does pretty well for what it is, but I would like to have something better. I can get just under 30mpg in the car I have now.

Here is what I have right now.

Ooo nice car. Don't know that much about Subarus. Don't know a whole lot of people who own them. The one person I do know had to rebuild their engine at 120k miles (!!!)

I heard about that pulse and glide technique. I've driven the Prius as well and the biggest difference is definitely the weight. The Camry is at least 600 pounds heavier. You can feel it. The car is surprisingly heavier than my Volvo.

One advantage the Camry has over the Prius in terms of checking engine status is the inclusion of three energy gauges (compared to the single energy monitor on the Prius). There is an instantaneous gauge lodged where the tachometer would normally be, a mini energy monitor in the speedometer, and a full size energy monitor in the navigation screen. It's really easy to tell what the engine is doing, so it won't be too hard to try this out. The downside is that they live in a hilly area.

I get pretty good gas mileage in my car. I wish it was better... it would be nice to fill up only once every 600 miles. It's rated for 21/28, but I usually manage to get 22/30 out of it. On my trip to San Francisco last month I squeezed out 32mpg. And no, I don't drive like a granny
Though my next car will definitely be a hybrid. Volvo is currently developing a diesel/plug-in hybrid system for their new C30 hatchback right here in California. They have not announced whether it will be available to the public for sure, but if it ever is, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Here's what it looks like:
