This post is just a quick how to for keeping all your UT stats, settings, and ID. You will need either two hard drives or burner with plenty of blanks. Before you reformat your hard drive, scan your UT directory for viruses etc..
Then move the entire directory off the drive you are going to reformat, or copy it to cdrom or dvdrom, the entire directory. After you reformat your windows drive (usually the c and reinstall windows with all of its updates and all your drivers and other necessary software, reinstall UT2004. then open up your new UT directory and select all folders. Move all these folders to your desktop or some other location just get em out of there (you can probably delete them). Next you need to copy all of your old files into your new UT folder. This takes a while so get a soda or something and get comfortable.
Once that is done, fire up UT and hop in and play! This worked like a charm for me but I can make no guaranties for you being that this is the most indepth thing I have ever thought of for computers on my own. That being said I cant think of any reason it would not work for anybody else. Good luck peashooter! It's pretty easy just a little time consuming, but you wont have to fudge around or bother dru to transfer all your stuff to a new ID. All your patches, skins, voicepacks, mods and mutators will still be there so you dont have to download and install them all. Ultimately it's a real timesaver and pretty simple.

as far as shareware scanners go, its hard to beat spybot search and destroy.
i run nortons, but even nortons couldnt get rid of the trojans i had. you can download a free trial version of nortons which i did before i bought it outright, that will tell you what is infected and where. just make sure the hard drive you move your current ut directory to is not infected. chances are the infection is just in the system32 and registry on your primary drive(the one with windows installed on it). from what ive seen the really nasty ones that you cant get rid of bury themselves in there. if the ones you cant delete manually are just in there like mine, you're in business. i would download the trial version of nortons. and if you have windows xp make sure when you reinstall to install all the updates and sp2. it will take about four tries before you get it all. and dont forget to install directx 9.0c.

another nice free virus scan is here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
all though the scan engine is not on your computer (it exists only in cyber-space) it picks up a lot of stuff norton doesn't (and vice versa, so use norton too, not all scanners pick up all virus' as far is i've found) it will ask you if you want to install such and such from trend micro... just say yes then do a full system scan. depending on your internet hookup, it may take sometime (i have cable and a 40 gig hd, it takes me about 30 mins to do a scan).

Interesting, maybe with the same cd key and same name it doesn't matter. But you will lose all skins, voicepacks, patches, and maps.

XP/Stats on the the DC server are stored serverside (so you cant hack them) They're stored as a combination of your CD Key and Username, so as long as neither of these changes, you keep these on the DC server

Maybe, but not unless you get some ssh access directly to the box
