Award Thought

I understand about Head Hunter, Shock award, etc. The idea is that you would get an award for multi awards. So lets say I got head hunter and shock award then at the end of the game, it would give you an additional bonus for multiple awards.

I do not know what is far, but I would say that a BINGO would be of course the ultimate. I am thinking awarding it at the end because you would look at the awards and calculate based on the end total. I am thinking the more complex awards would be calculated with a higher award. Of course if it is figured out at the end, then the only bonus would be EXP.

Tell me what you think. Maybe I am way off on this, but just an idea.

Re:Award Thought

First, on Bingo:

<rant>
The way we define Bingo right now is, I feel, utterly contrived. If it were the three weapon awards (Head Hunter, Combo Master, and Flak Money) plus the two spree awards (Holy Crap and Wicked Sick), I could understand.

But having to get all the timed killing sprees is just stupid. (Sorry for the strong language. This one really bothers me.) The only players who have that kind of control over the timed sprees are those who can manipulate the Triple to their content - Loaded Artifact players.

Bingo is intended to be an exceptional award for the most exceptional players on the entire server. But if players have to start and finish match after match specifically to get that award, doesn't it seem contrived to you? It should be something that requires a small strategy modification (ie, make sure you get your headshots in, switch weapons once you get one of the awards) instead of gearing your entire gameplay mode to it.

To make Bingo an acceptable award in my eyes that is of relatively equal difficulty for all classes, it needs to be solely the five awards mentioned above.
</rant>

Okay, onward. A similar system has been proposed. Perhaps you could add to that thread.

Half of the 8 bingo's were completed by LW players though.

To cut down the bingo to only those requirements would make it far too easy. When I look at those who have gotten a Bingo they are the best of the server imo. It is possible to get a bingo without a triple, you simply need good weapons and a good map that provides lots of enemies.

Well, I've gotten the award with all 3 classes. I admit, it took me till lvl 120 somthin to do it(oh, I did it without a triple too), but that's mostly because I'm usually busy healing people. So, my medic doesn't usually get a chance to get it.

Also, looking at the bingo chart, it looks like there are 4 LW, 3 LA, and 1 medic. So, I think it's relativle equal for all classes to get. LA and medics are newer(medics being the newest) so, there are less higher lvl players to try and get the awards.

Often times on maps I think could be a bingo candidate, I'll get combo master off right off the bat. Other than stopping on certain kill combos that's about all that changes. I try and get headhunter everymap anyway, and flak monkey is quick to get. So, at least in my case, not too contrived.

It be fun to see another award. Like getting all 3 weapon awards. You could call that like The Trifecta. Or maybe a mini-bingo for the 5 awards you listed(Holy, head hunter, flak monkey, combo master, and wicked sick)

I am sorry for bringing this up. I was not concerned about who got BINGO's but it was more of an idea of an additional reward.

In regards to the BINGO's yes it looks like everything is spread out and it would be tough for a medic to do it.

So I go back to my orginal suggestion which is to have an additional reward for multiple awards. I will read the link on the other proposal and sorry I repeated this suggestion.

I dunno about that ... I know as a medic you can get yourself an infinite medic shock early on; once you've got the Combo Master, you switch to an infinite flak. 8 head shots shouldn't take out your ammo on a sniper - definitely not, if you do it in more than a wave ...

Get a Lightning Rod and you can get some of the kill streaks out of the way fairly easily on waves with weaker monsters (IE, something that won't drain your adren in a shot). Add to that any pets helping - my Metal Skaarj is quite a trooper when it comes to helping me stretch out a kill streak. A triple can be quite helpful on Titan waves, but isn't 100% necessary, as Fro pointed out ...

I think if I tried I could probably get a bingo faster on my medic than my AM (and my WM has the same problem) - as the problem tends to be running out of shock ammo. Granted, if I get a vorp shock CM comes pretty easily ... but it's not like they grow on trees.

The problem with the summoned monsters is that they help you spread the kill streaks, I guess I need to get to the "kill all summoned" button quicker

I am also generaly for more awards (recognition) for players skills, but do not see a reason for giving more experiance for combinations of awards.

I would rather see awards for team work. If some one could figure that out it would be cool.

Perhaps a blend of kohan's idea? I.e. it is simply on a map to map basis.

So if you get double head hunter you get 200XP, triple head hunter you get 300XP and so on. You wouldn't be getting ridiculous amounts of XP from this, but if you are amazingly proficient with a weapon on a map you will be rewarded.

Re:Award Thought

No lag good. Screen shot to prove bingo fine enough.

Note: I *just* got Bingo with my (now) 118 WM. No Triple. Here's the deal:

I didn't get my kill streaks (strictly speaking) with Titans. In fact, my Holy, Ludicrous, and Monster were all done with regular monsters. As I've theorized previously, while the awards for kill streaks are point based, the timer is kill based. In other words, as I've said elsewhere, you can get a double kill with 16 pupae as long as you kill them within 6.5 seconds of *each other*, not all at once. Technically, it could take you over a full minute and a half to get that double kill.

Obviously, if you look at the score shot of my Bingo, you'll notice only four people were on. So it's an easy thing to get if people will leave you monsters to kill (thanks guys for staying off one - my - side of the map - you didn't have to, I didn't ask you to, but you did anyway).

So when it comes to getting a Bingo, there are many roads to travel that lead to the same destination.

I don't mean a different accomplishment for every map, but instead of becoming an elite head hunter after getting head hunter 32 times, you simply can become a double or triple head hunter on a map to map basis. Once a new map starts then that count is reset.

So I could become a combo master 10 times over one map, but the next map it starts from scratch. If you use the shock exclusively you could become a combo master 8 or 9 times over so I suppose the XP rewards should not double. Perhaps in increments starting at say 20 or 30 XP? By that I mean when you get double head hunter you get 20XP, not 120 plus the 20XP. Triple head hunter you get 30XP. The XP amounts should probably be scaled to the specific awards, i.e. you get more for double head hunter than you would for double flak monkey.

Oh. It actually would take substantial work not to make it work that way.

You actually can. It just requires you to die in the middle. I've got concerns about allowing players to keep stacking on these specific awards without a death in the middle to slow them down.

Perhaps, but I'm also trying to stick to the format of the original game here. Also, I dont think the game will properly handle more than one of the unique awards in the scoreboard.

Award Thought

Well, why exactly should awards give you EXP? In relation to my Awards topic, having some other award that makes it easier to get points the old-fashioned way might work well.

Hmm, train of thought I just got (rhyme somewhat intended):

Awards only awarded once per life.
Awards give EXP.
That might make people die just to get more EXP.
So give people other awards, like a new weapon or damage bonus.
That would cause them to think twice about it, because if they die, they'll lose their little bonus.
