Fantasy football

Well it's football season again, and I remember last year there was talk about starting up a DC player league. I can't say that I've ever hosted a league, but I've played in many, so I'd be happy to create a league if anyone is interested. Could either be a pick 'em league (were you only pick the teams you think will win for that weekend) or a normal league (you pick players and gain points through their performance.) It's all very fun, and if you like watching football this only makes it better! So post if you're interested... and go Bills! :-P

I like the (here comes the responses) 49ers. I'm willing to make a friendly wager on whether or not they win more then 4 games this season. Geeez, I almost can't watch them play :roll: . I've never played fantasy football either. I actually didn't keep up with who went where...who is playing for who, etc.

i would be willing to play in this league but i would like the idea of picking the teams to win more then building your own team eather or way u chose i would be in but i dont bet money just for fun.

:)) lol, well the 49ers look promising, i guess there in the same spot as the bills, just bad! Oh well, have to keep up hope. I was thinking more of the pick 'em league just becuase it's less time consuming, but still very fun. There won't be any money on this either, haven't played in any of those leagues and this definately won't be that way, so no worries on that. So totally free and the more people the better! :D Edit: Oh and phoenix, the pats would be my second team to root for, kind of odd since they're division rivals, but I like them all the same... probably just because they always beat the Colts for me :P

Yea i think the faster way to pick teams and stuff would make people more intrested cuz its less time consuming and i say go vikings

Oh, if anyone has never played before it's very easy to pick up on. I'll probably create it through Yahoo and they even rank the players by points from last year. So you don't have to know too much to be able to compete and have a fun time. If we did do a pick a player league, here's how it would work. You first rank your players from favorite, most points, or just someone you think may do well, all the way to the least person. The computer will then select players to go to each team based on our rankings. This way we can avoid having to do a real online draft(which is time consuming) and the teams are done in no time. Since there aren't too many people so far the pick 'em league may not be as good... so anyone who wants to try out FF I'll be creating a player league later this week and anyone is welcome to join. Edit: Generally this type of league only takes about 15-25 minutes of your time once a week(I tend to fix mine either saturday night), just to decide what players you want to play for Sunday.

I'd be interested. I've been playing for about 10 years now, and it is a lot of fun. I'm in two pay leagues every year and usually one "just for fun" league. If you can post the scoring, rules and come up with a draft date, I'm in. Oh, and being from Minnesota, I bleed purple......unfortunately my team never lets the wound heal. :cry: :lol:

Here's the settings my friends and i used last year, I can tweak some things like max players(if more want to join) or point values if anyone objects to any of these. This league was a very fun league and it was very even towards the end... I believe to get into the playoffs the difference was only a few points apart. But other than that, tell me what you think... oh and I think I will get rid of the waiver (it makes you wait to pick up free players so even if you are the first one to see the player, you may not necessarily get him) I honestly didn't like that part so I'll do away with those. I like the settings you have but would offer three suggestions for those interested in playing to weigh in on. First would be the 3 WR 2 RB set up. My last couple leagues we played 2 WR 2 RB and one RB/WR which was a slot where you could slide in a WR or a RB. Second, our QB passing points went 1 point for every 25 yards, third our RB yardage points went 1 point for every 10 yards. Just thought I would put it out there and see what those interested in playing think. I'm okay with it either way, the settings look good although I prefer leaving the waiver order in place. If the league were to launch with all the settings you posted, it's close enough for me.

I like those suggestions... might i ask about the waivers though?

Ok, it's all set up, so you may PM me if you want to join in the fun! The league settings are almost the same as posted, except I added in CPL's suggestions (added the RB/WR slot, waiver is still up, changed QB and RB pts). But if there are any more suggestions I can still change it after registration. Anyone interested please send me a PM with your e-mail address so I can send you the league number and invite!:D

Okay I'm signed up and registered with the league, now when is the draft? Do I have all week to prepare a list , or are we gonna draft in the next couple of days? I'm sure it won't be until we have a full league, but I suspect that will fill up real soon now that you took the bull by the horns and set it all up. Nice work, great idea and thanks Pyra, look forward to playing with you all this season!

I forgot to ask, are we doing the serpentine draft where it goes like this Rd. 1 1-10 Rd. 2 10-1 Rd. 3 1-10 Rd. 4 10-1 etc.etc.etc.?

That's a good question, I have it so we make the draft order and the computer picks them, but it didn't mention if that was the way it would be done... I'm going to have to check on that :? . And the draft date will probably be mid next week, hopefully, but if anyone needs more time to make a draft list then I'll keep it on hold.

I just finished my draft order. Hopefully the league fills up quick so we can draft quick, that way we have time to make the necessary adjustments that autopicks always require. ie no kickers got drafted by your team etc.

oh found it... Yahoo automatically uses that setting for their draft so it should be all set... I think it'll pick a player to draft first at random too. I've either PM'd or e-mailed everyone who responded so if you haven't checked there should be an invite waiting.... and it's still open for anyone else to join in, I can always make more slots :D edit: And cpl, you shooting to get the bear's defense :wink: ? I was thinking a strong pick might be san diego's lol...

ok just one question i made my team but i dont know how to log on to the league it just sends be to the spot to register to be on our league so if anyone has a link or something that would be helpful.

hmm, I'm still assuming it's not showing up because we haven't had our draft yet... but this is what i do. On yahoo, click the Sports link. Next pick the logo that says 2006 fantasy football. This will take you to that registration screen. At the top it should tell you the leagues you have and give you a link to them. I go through the "My Yahoo" page where I have my fantasy teams listed on one side. Making a page is simple and keeps things organized. Hopefully one of those will help you out. Oh, and the league's pretty much ready but we could use one more person, so this is the last chance to get in on the fun... you can PM me if you're interested :?

I use the link http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1 and up at the top banner there's a place to sign in (assuming you don't have it automatically log on everytime). Once you sign in to yahoo, it'll take you back to the fantasy football homepage, and along the right there's a list of your teams (or team, if this is your only one on yahoo). Click on that to get to the league.

Well, I'll plan on starting it around 9PM eastern, that way it's not too late if you're on the east coast and and late enough everywhere else where work is most likely over. So 9PM I'll click Draft Ready :D.

I think central time is an hour behind easter right? So it would have started at 8 there. But it's been moved to Ready and I don't really know how long it'll take Yahoo to do it, so should be a surprise to everyone :lol:

The waiver pretty much makes you wait for any player you decide to pick up from Free Agency aka not picked players :wink:. I believe the lower rank you are the faster it goes, but as of right now I don't think the rankings mean anything since nobody has successfully picked another player up yet. So I think we all are the same right now. Your waiver rank is based on how little adding you do to your team... so if I only add one player compared to someone who adds 3, my waiver rank will be lower than that persons. So in short, the less you do, the better your waiver is for when you see that one great player pop up. :)

your waiver rank in the start is decided by reversing the draft order. Like I was 1st to draft, so i get the last waiver spot, and the last person to pick(Pyra) in the draft has 1st waiver spot. Once you pick up a player from waiver, you drop to last in waiver priority.
